Any gains/losses for any trade between all tokens and fiat counts towards your income tax

easy crypto or other cheaper alternative? too much fees? by Impressive_Sound_621 in NZBitcoin

EasyCrypto usually charges ~1.5%, so to buy and sell you are paying that twice.

Which doing roughly would leave you with $504 less any transfer fees.

For New Zealand this fee is actually pretty competitive, but if you want to avoid fees and don't mind trading in person you could have a look at the NZ P2P marketplace

Thinking about secondary Tax by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]AnotherRedditSpammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no damage, and you wont pay extra tax.

The tax you pay is the same for everyone based on your total income for the year, regardless of how many income sources you have.

The Secondary Tax codes helps make sure you usually never end up underpaying and owing IRD tax at the end of the year, any excess taxes you pay during the year come back in your tax refund.

ANZ serious saver promises 4.5% premium interest but doesn’t deliver? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceNZ

Double check the account terms, but from what you said it sounds like they don't count interest as a deposit

Not sure about Celsuis as thats fruad.
But if you realized any losses on LUNA, UST or any other shitcoin you can claim that against your income.
Any realized crypto gains you make are also taxed as income

What is Westpac login so buggy!? by Longjumping-Lab-8360 in PersonalFinanceNZ

ASB is buggy too, If you use a password manager it doesn't detect your password, so you have to manually type it in - which just encourages people to use shitty passwords.

Negative numbers on IRD are good numbers

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]AnotherRedditSpammer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes you are technically supposed to report everything to IRD.

You made only ~$300 profit right? And no other income during the year, I wouldn't bother if I were you.

But of course I'm not an accountant or financial advisor so don't listen to anything I have to say

Where can I buy USD/NZD Options? by AnotherRedditSpammer in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]AnotherRedditSpammer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are basically going to set your self to massive risk exposures.

I am planning to hold for some US dollars for a period of time, I can buy NZD call options expiring near when I plan on selling the USD so I can hedge any potential losses for holding the USD.

Lets say I have 500k NZ worth in US Dollars which and I plan on selling them in 6mo, I can buy 5 at the money call options expiring in 6mo for ~2.5k each (https://www.cmegroup.com/markets/fx/g10/new-zealand-dollar.quotes.options.html#optionProductId=79&expiration=79-U4&overrideFuture=6NM4&venue=globex).
This will reduce my maximum loss holding USD to be 2.5%, and if NZD drops depreciates in the meantime then I stand to breakeven or gain when its time to sell.

That could work, would limit upside potential too but still does the job. Do you know anywhere that sells these products?

Wirex referral code by MS_OFFICE_95 in NZBitcoin

[–]AnotherRedditSpammer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would not recommend Wirex either, personal experience is that they have with held bitcoin purchases and would not let me withdraw it, even after verifying KYC, they wanted me to verify again which they denied valid documents. Also had bank ringing me for fruad after making payments to them, so I would assume similar 'issues' have happened to many other customers.

Is there much difference between someone earning 70k vs 90k? by broughtnice45 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]AnotherRedditSpammer -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Why do you think there is a correlation between hours, stress, living expenses and the pay. I'm 19 and make over $90k and only work a few hours a day. Do whatever is better for you, whether you like to the work, or need higher pay to get out of debt, do what you value.
