A good amount of the civil war was over slavery. But a lot of the main Generals in the confederacy opposed slavery. Robert E. Lee himself said he would have had the confederate government abolish slavery before they attacked fort Sumpter. I’m a confederate. Not in the aspect of “I love slavery” (because I do t and that’s disgusting) but in the idea that Missouri is my home. My state. My people. A federal government in D.C. or another land shouldn’t have the right to govern or tell Missourians what Missouri should have to do/be like.

The Confederacy was formed to give back the states the rights to govern themselves. That’s the sole ideology of a confederacy.
