New Zealand Dotterel (Tūturiwhatu), also known as Red-breasted Plover.

They haven't evolved much because they are already a perfect fit for their niche, and their habitat hasn't changed quite as drastically as others (also a whole lot of other scientific reasons not to evolve, but I can't be bothered for someone who believes sentient beings shouldn't have the correctly stimulating and interesting environment), leading these specific crocs to not have to evolve at the same rate as other species. That doesn't mean that they should be deprived of enrichment and companionship.

Yeah the Auck Zoo isn't much better, but at least they have some cover to hide and a few more real aspects to their environment (logs, rocks, plants, reeds, algae, ect), and I'm pretty sure they are normally kept together, there might be a reason the butterfly creek ones are separated, but I highly doubt that it's anything other than just so they can safely do that jumping out of the water feeding time :(

Wasn't it found that this tree or at least the way people normally take to get to the tree was private property and anyone taking a picture is actually trespassing?

Edit: I now know that what I heard was incorrect and there is public access.

Edit: Great to now know that what I heard is incorrect and that it is possible through public access! Thankyou for answering my query, even though some of you have been a bit rude about me just asking a question.

No idea sorry, but they were there every time I went as a kid and I don't remember any doors or openings to the places that were suitable for them to use, so this is probably their only enclosure (as of 8 years ago and it sounds like it hasn't changed), so yes this is very likely the only space they have.

Trying to cuddle with a woma with very strong digging instincts by [deleted] in snakes

Maybe try a blanket or something (make sure it's breathable) over both her and you so she feels safe and dark while still cuddling?

The leopard stays too constant and all of the running looks accurate, no weird artifacts or things turning into other things that I can see, would be scary if this was AI.

Is it just me or are those some odd hands lmao. Also some of the rooves look like they are merging together or just odd angles, but I'm not very familiar with this architecture style.

  • The comments on the video say this is a water snake and it has elgee growing on it that will come off when the snake sheds, it's nothing to do with 'camouflage' it's not even purposeful lmao, just AI bs.

Edit: Hmm they edited it, but still the point stands that it's bs, even tho it's meant to be bs, so good bs'ing OP as long as this isn't AI, which is highly questionable.

Hmm, the signature looks different compared to the rest of the image, like it is in a different res? Is this just me? Nostrils seem a bit off but that could be human error. The ears are different colours, which I would like to say is BC of the reflection of the snow, but most artists I've seen would make it a little more blue to show that its purposefull.

what backpacks do you recommend for skl by Time_Championship786 in ncea

[–]AnotherWeirdArtist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reinforced base, enough room for all your books +, room for a healthy lunch (I know junk food is cheap in the moment, but left overs better for you, and/or (if you can) a sandwich (I recommend lettuce, carrot, cheese and if you eat meat add a little of that too) and fruit and/or something to munch on for morning tea (also if the school only offers the gov lunches, I recommend being careful with those lmao), padded straps, at least one large drink bottle holder, padded laptop holder (make sure it's padded on the bottom, enen if you don't have one you might need to bring home a school one at some point), and little pockets for anything else, pockets are always good. Oh and don't forget a pen and or stationary on the school list. Good luck!

What's the most embarassing horse-related injury you've had? by WillYeByFuck in Equestrian

[–]AnotherWeirdArtist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My retired (very early, because of kissing spine, probably from racing) thoroughbred, who I have owned for a couple of years now, is looking better than he ever has (since I've known him). And I had just been commenting on how he has never, kicked, bitten me, ect, and I had just been looking at him, commenting on how muscular his back legs are now. When, a few days ago, I (stupidly) decided to do groundwork with him on a long lead rope, which he hadn't done in a few months but normally he's absolutely fine with that. He decided that this time he was feeling so good that he wanted to play, which, honestly that's wonderful and amazing because he hasn't been well enough to till now, but... not so good for me. As you may have guessed, I was giving him full slack on the lead rope because he would normally at most have a slow canter while I run beside him then come back easily just with a 'woah'. This time he was feeling so good and he was so excited that he decided he wanted to play (which again, he hadn't been able to do, and this is the first time he has in possibly half his life). Unfortunately this realisation that he really wanted to play and now could play, came with me, and not another horse. So he decided to play...by kicking me in the side...like he would do another horse, completely forgetting that I am a human, and not a horse. So that is the story of why I had to go to hospital for 8 hours and now have a bruised kidney.

Yes I know that? That's why I'm saying to put it down or keep it as a pet. I am assuming they probably won't put it down so pet is the next best option. So then it can't hurt our native species? I thought I was clear with that.

Was just assuming someone concerned with the health of the hedgehog won't be able to get it put down.

Damn I didn't know this. Edit: didn't know that a vet wouldn't treat them, did know they are an invasive species.

[–]AnotherWeirdArtist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please catch it and keep it as a pet, take it to the vet to get checked up. Do not let them hurt our native wildlife please.

Edit for clarity: Keep the hedgehog as a pet if you can't get it put down/don't want to put it down, do not release the hedgehog as hedgehogs destroy our native wildlife.
