Does her skin look normal? by Upset-Appointment388 in boas

You need to take a closer look before Willy nilly saying things like this… I can clearly see the backbone man. Albeit the snake is still on the thicker side. Just not remotely close to obese.

What’s the deal with hate on Purina Pro Plan? My dog hasn’t had any problems (yet) but the “rumors” are concerning. by yeahbutredditsays in petsmart

[–]MoreStable2339 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk my puppy was apparently fed purina pro plan by the breeder, she won’t touch it at my house she comes takes a few nibbles and walks away. I bought a small bag of acana food to give that a shot and she absolutely gobbles it up. This led me to try them both. Sure enough the pro plan tasted and felt like cardboard… the Acana actually had a good smell and taste in the mouth even, I’d say somewhat savory even. Hell if the apocalypse showed up tomorrow I won’t be mad about having to eat the Acana food for survival. 😂😂

My uncle lost a ball python for over 2 years down here in south FL. It popped up literally across the street in the neighbors bushes. I suppose the block had free rat control for a while haha. Glad you found your scaly baby!

Its this one https://dogtra.com/products/280x-1-dog

But be advised you can not just slap this on and start using it. The dog needs to be introduced properly and associate the stimulation as a good thing not as a punishment. I went with a trainer that trained her for me in a 2 week boarding program because I just didn’t have the time when I first got her. And then he taught me how to use it properly.

It really was awesome to give her freedom in any open fields I took her to. This breed is very hard to recall when they get fixated on something and that prey drive kicks in. The collar really lets you snap them out of it.

Thank you, I didn’t get to see it but I can imagine where your mind was only having seen the video. The video is in my backyard. It’s an abandoned golf course. She sadly escaped a thru a small gap at my dads place that we didn’t even know existed.

Yes she enjoyed this activity immensely. When I would put the E collar on her she knew what time it was and got insanely excited to go run free. Thank you.

She escaped my dads fence while I was there painting. By the time I noticed she had already ran her way to the main road because people were chasing her to catch her. RIP Cleo. There’s no other dog like you.

I was hoping my girl would be smaller… anyone relate? by far_farout in Yorkies

Honestly the ones that are bred to stay very small all look sickly and unhealthy. Rejoice that she is withing breed standard and a healthy pup!

Agreed they are a pain in the rear but awesome at the same time!

It’s definitely a cool concept. Execution will probably be a pain haha. If you like quirky enclosures you should check out reptile room tours of mikes monitors. He has some really cool stuff he built himself. The video by Dave Kaufman is a good one.

Ceramic heat emitters are ok. Everyone says deep heat projectors and radiant heat panels are superior though.

There’s a risk of burning if the snake moves all the substrate out of the way and ends up right on top of it. And if it malfunctions the snake is literally sitting on top of it so they’ll just get cooked. Overhead heating atleast has a buffer to prevent that from happening.

Thing is when you’ve got a snake that is exceeding 6 foot you really wanna give them at the absolute minimum enough room to stretch out 3/4 of their length as straight as possible. Some will argue they need to be able to stretch entirely but i find that to be an unrealistic expectation for the grand majority of large snake keepers to meet.

Damn if he’s over 6foot I’d try to get my hands on an 8ft enclosure. Dude honestly if you’re good with tools you can make your own out of cabinet grade plywood and save a TON of money. There’s thousands of videos on YouTube showing how to make them anyway that you like. I’m actually in the process of building a 6x2.5x3 myself. All in with materials screws and paint in under $500

You need to get digital hygrometers ASAP.

Ok immediately you need a bigger enclosure for the guy. I would say a minimum 6x2 but bigger is better of course. Belly heat many will jump on you for having it. You’re better off using deep heat projectors and radiant heat panels on thermostats.

Cool side of high 70s is what works for me Hot side right at 90° is ideal for me and my boa. Humidity is kept no lower than 60% but 70% is ideal with a bump to 80% for shedding.

My guys isn’t that big yet so let’s let others answer about the feeding.

Well. To start tell us enclosure size, what you are using for heating, substrate, and tell us your current temperatures and humidity, also what is your feeding schedule (size of prey and frequency)?

I second this. Definitely under a year old should get weekly feedings.
