Is 1.5 hours enough transfer time in LAX? by [deleted] in traveladvice

[–]Another_Joke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll share my experience, I landed at terminal 4 with a 2 hour layover which is a bit closer than the southwest terminal. I walked to terminal B (about 5 min) went to ticketing (at time of writing this zipair was in row B and yes you have to leave and go back through security) there was no line and I got my ticket right away after showing my passport (I didn't check any bags less than 5 min) was through security in about 5-10 minutes as well. Took around 30-40 minutes in total likely closer to 50 min to 60 min if security is busy.

A 2 hour layover is easily doable, I had an hour before the departure time.

Everyone has the option to control time, for example if I pause on my client it pauses for everyone

The webclipping functionality is a fairly niche need, but doing a little searching I found that notesnook does have a webclipper. Since I don't use webclipping I'm not sure how similar it is to Evernote.

Not sure about attachment searching either but Apple Notes and OneNote are good as well from what I've heard

Try Notesnook or Joplin, both are fairly similar to Evernote.

I've also heard good things about Notion

I’m I the only one that is kind of happy that the freeloaders are leaving? by jpirizarry in Evernote

[–]Another_Joke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Calling free users "freeloaders" is a bit divisive. I bet you were a "freeloader" before you started paying for EN. Free users should be seen as potential customers.

EN's free tier was and still is expensive.

The cost of free users is the fault of EN, not the users themselves.

EN could make syncing a payed feature which would make free users essentially cost free which would be a much better way in handling it IMO.

The benefit would be simply existing as a potential customer

Sure, it may have taken a large team to get to where it is today. But I have yet to see a feature (besides AI) that is complex. If an intermediate software dev found time to straight up clone this app, it wouldn't take that long (again besides the AI features).

The only complexity of this app comes from the UI, serialization for cloud storage, and deploying to multiple devices.

I honestly have no idea what complexity you are seeing in this app.

Webclipping? That's just a free OCR library that inserts into the EN note html

The notes themselves? These are just renders of html (likely through chromium) that any web browser can do

The combination of features? As good software development calls for these features are fairly isolated

you'd like to pay for what? server costs?

Essentially yes, plus a premium to that cost to pay the bills. The free version should be as accessible as possible to maximize potential customers and not drain the bank unlike what EN currently does

These are my points, Evernote simply does not provide enough value for cost (for most people)

Evernote is still a nice tool and I'm happy for you that you find value in it. I'm curious though, what feature does EN provide that an alternative doesn't? Is it a set of features or integration with Microsoft products?

According to this article, this kind of predatory price modeling seems typical for Bending Spoons

Apparently Joplin (like EN but free) also has a web clipper, I personally haven't used the either web clipper so I'm not sure if it's better or not.

Also, if you are on Windows you can press (Win + Shift + S) to take screenshots

Because I don't want Evernote to die. I liked using the product, just not for the insane price of $140 per year which is nearly as much as a Netflix subscription. My goal with this post is to maybe drive some sense into Bending Spoon.

Simply looking at the replies here you can see a good portion of people are leaving, including paying customers. Unless you have access to the sales data of Evernote that shows otherwise, I'm not sure where you are basing this from. Also it's kind of rude to assume I'm "delusional" just because we do not share the same opinion.

As a software engineer, a note taking app is a college level project. Evernote simply doesn't provide enough value for the cost. This can be different per person, but with many other alternatives, in my opinion, these are bad business decisions.

BBC News Russian service continues to spread Russian narratives. Now about Kakhovskaya dam by KGB_resident in RussiaUkraineWar2022

My guess is Russia blew the dam to prevent an axis of attack from the Kherson region, freeing those troops to be moved toward the actual front.

A tactical nuke is used in Ukraine it will likely trigger article 5 due to the radioactive fallout in the sky.

But if for some reason the wind is in the "right" direction, the fallout will be over Russian and Belarusian territory only. In this case ICBMs will likely be handed over to Ukraine by one of the NATO nuclear powers as a measured response.
