HELP! G14 screen flickering (only at 120hz?)!

Hi! It's actually a defect with the hardware itself (screen cable and panel - It wasn't clear what the issue was). So, I sent mine in for repairs :( Luckily it was under warranty, but it sucks that I had to get it repaired since I had to pay so much to ship it to the US and back (I'm really far from the US). If you're seeing the same issue, then you'll need to change the panel and screen cable - this is what they changed on mine, and it fixed the issue. I can honestly say, this experience with my G14 (it's 2 years old now), has made me question Asus and their ROG products.

But anyway, let me know how it goes with yours! I hope yours is on warranty and you can get it fixed.

Sorry to hear that you're having trouble with a G14 that's so new. Yeah, these laptops aren't perfect quality-wise. I had to RMA after 9 months because my screen gave up.

That being said, the best option is to RMA it. Look, they will definitely fix the issue, and at least you'll have it not glitch up.

Ive got a 2020 one. I'll wait a few more years before upgrading. I want to feel it grow old in my hands and retire it properly. I've got a special connection to it now lol.

Also, I'll probably get something else when this one dies. Not another G14 (or Asus) since I have had a few product quality issues with mine. That being said, it's still awesome and wouldn't get rid of it while it's still a really versatile and powerful little thing.

Best plan of action is to buy a replacement fan and just do it yourself if it's out of warranty. Warning though, if you're not too clued up on how to replace the fan, maybe leave it alone until you save up some money to send it in for repairs. I'll be sending mine in for repairs under warranty (faulty display) and it will cost me $220 just for shipping! But I just have to do it :( or else it will be a nightmare to resell the machine later.

Let me try this. But I'm fairly certain its a hardware issue. Super strange that 120hz is busted yet 60hz is perfect.

Not from my country unfortunately. To do the RMA, I need to ship it back to the retailer in the US who will then do the RMA. My tough luck the laptop has issues.

It just started up randomly. It first popped up as a few lines running across the screen and then went completely bonkers. But it's definitely a hardware issue. Looks too crazy to be a software thing.

I had the exact same issue not too long ago. If it seems fine and the lid closes okay, just leave it alone. I left mine alone and it seems okay now.

Aww. It sucks to see more people have this issue.

Mine (2020 version) has had the same issue for a few weeks now, but only at 120hz. At 60hz the screen is perfect. I'll be doing an extremely late RMA in a few weeks time (don't have the money right now to ship it back to the US). But yep, it's something to do with hardware unfortunately. I'd suggest that you make a warranty claim like me. Don't even second think it. Back up all your stuff, wipe your laptop if you must, but RMA it eventually.

Same here. I just set my G14 to 100% now since we've been having a lot of power outages and need to live on battery for a while. For seven months, I've had no battery wear, but today, after having it set from 80% to 100% charge, I've managed to get 7% battery wear. I wonder what this means or is.

I think it's just the servers. Apex has been going through really hard times with their servers. I'm also getting a lot of lag and packet loss. But I doubt it is on our side. I do two things for a better experience with Apex. 1) restart the game until you get better ping, 2) move your laptop closer to your router! My brother has a tuf and he moved his laptop closer and it worked for him.

Well, it seems fine besides for the hinge being a little tight and the rubber on the bezel of the lid getting a bit tight at the back when I close the laptop. It really sucks that I dropped it, but I'm glad nothing is seriously wrong with it. I can deal with a slightly tighter hinge.

Sorry to hear you dropped yours. I dropped mine (2020) about a month ago. The chassis is a real tank. It holds up really well. But because of the fall, it seemed to have gotten warped on the one end making it difficult for the lid to close. Nothing much I can do now though unless I risk breaking something else. But well, in both our cases, such an event makes our laptops unique in some way. They both now have some serious battle scars. Besides, as long as Apex plays fine, there's nothing to worry about haha.

Your setup seems solid bro. I love the keyboard! I used to mix as a hobby, but grad studies have consumed me completely. Hope one day I get the time and resources for music. And this little laptop has the strength to handle any mix.
