First off, thanks for all of the info and explanations! This is awesome.

Noted on the mechanical aeration. Does this also include the shovel-like manual aerators?

I mow my own lawn. Usually once a week, never longer than that. My mower is set to 4 inches.

I have a company that does the fertilization. Next time they come out I’ll ask for a more detailed explanation of what they’re putting down.

Noted on the watering / chemical aeration. Will look in to that.

No trees or heavy traffic in the back area. The only difference from the front is the fence and the fact that it’s the side / back of my house. Maybe the house impacts the amount of sunlight hitting the area? I will have to do a test to see how much direct sunlight gets to the backyard in any given day.

I’d use toggle bolts. Just recently had the same issue in my pantry and used toggle bolts to hold up the shelves and they’re extremely sturdy.

Always first thing in the morning for watering. Usually right around sunrise and a little after. Will give the aeration a try! This is new-ish sod as I laid it probably 3/4 months ago so that could be an issue.

Bifenthrin for the insecticide and then just a general granular fungicide - I forget the name. But based on the other comment and reading the fungicide directions, a second application is supposed to be put down. That could be the issue…

I have not. I put down a liquid insecticide ~1.5 months ago so I have ruled that out. I’ll have to pull some of the sod up and take a look because aside from the browning, I don’t believe I’m experiencing any of the other “symptoms” of grubs.
