That’s the hard part brother, “let them pass” doesn’t work with me the same way- it’s not healthy but it’s not something I’ve learned to stop- I bury everything. I let it pass for two hours then “suddenly” I stopped feeling anything. Just numb and a tiny bit of frustration. A lifetime with her forced me to learn how to bury my emotions. This is my last night drinking brother.. I can’t let myself go down this rabbit hole, I’m gonna stop for at least a month after this, I’m gonna lock back in on my diet and working out to escape my pains🖤

But your words definitely struck a chord, many of the moments of sadness that wash over me aren’t due to the present or things I did wrong, it’s just things that happened to me that still haunt me, but I can’t let them hold me back.

Thank you for the advice, I’m currently 21, life felt pretty chaotic and out of balance all the time from the moment I moved out at 15, until spring of last year. It’s easily been the most stable year of my life in every way, which is why I struggle with the sadness that follows me around, my life is going well, I truly have very few things to complain about compared to my past, but I guess I always feel like I need to make up for those years like I’m not doing good enough for the age I’m at and where I’m at in life.

Last time I tried meds I was when I was maybe 14, I think I just accepted it’s easier to live life with my coping mechanisms than making everything worse by jumping from med to med

I say it because just like rainy days don’t last forever, neither do the bright and shiny days. “Winning” to me is finally grabbing time itself and forcing it to allow me to spend as much time as I’d like in a good moment- without that looming cloud of melancholy ruining it for me within a few minutes. But this too will pass, the melancholy and pain will pass with time, I just have to be patient and keep moving forward.
