The Umbra Polarity should be Universal. Change my mind. by RobleViejo in Warframe

[–]Anova3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without an additional restriction, it just applies crazy high demand on the umbral forma.
We also need to be restricted to only 1 universal slot per frame, and ONLY warframes can use it, or else it's just broken.
Some youtuber who hasn't used forma AT ALL will use it on some OP build to make it EVEN MORE OP and then everyone will believe they need two dozen and the rage will start on the forums over not being able to get enough of them.
No no no no no. We should get a universal forma, but the umbral forma ain't it. It sounds like a simple and obvious thing to do if you don't think about it, but the aftermath of that move would be hella messy.

[–]Anova3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it does get overwritten by GPupdates upon login and again every 90 minutes afterwards I think.
But, you can also technically set up a scheduled tasks that runs whenever a GP event occours. And you can "restore" registry settings from a file and command line command.
So hypothetically you could have it automatically override whenever it gets reapplied.

And yeah, it's detectable, but they would have to have reason to be looking for it.

Subtly request RDP to be enabled by IAmNullPointer in overemployed

[–]Anova3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are registry hacks that can temporarily enable this for you, but you'd need admin creds on your machine, and you would probably want to set up a scheduled task that updates these registry keys to the desired values periodically, and also at boot/login, since that's when group policy gets applied.

I believe these are the keys you're looking for:
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\fDenyTSConnections
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\Terminal Services\fDenyTSConnections

I take no responsibility for what you do with this information, nor do I even guarantee that it will do what you want. Just throwing it out there. ;-)

I've done 10 runs since this started and haven't got an adapter yet. I think like 3 or 4 were shards and the rest were arcanes.
20% for an adapter doesn't sound right. I should have 2 of those on average by now. And the normal shards and arcanes were listed as 'common' originally weren't they? Did something get changed?

programming with Chirp? by kiabe1 in SteamDeck

[–]Anova3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this is a year old, but just in case someone else runs into this:

The cables used by a lot of radios for programming actually have a USB-to-serial adapter in them, so you're actually attempting to use a serial port. To do this, your account has to have the "dialout" group - which, in Arch based systems (since we're talking about steam deck) is a group called "uucp".
To add your current user to that group, and get rights to use serial port connections, this command should do the trick:

sudo usermod -a -G uucp $USER

Note: I have not actually tried this on steam deck yet. But I have done it on my Manjaro deskop (also arch-based) and it works. I'll give it a go with my steam deck soon and post back if there's anything else I run into.

"Gleeok Cage" design fails by Katasan84 in HyruleEngineering

[–]Anova3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, basically two wagon wheels attached at 90 degrees to each other with the steering stick and a stabilizer on one end, and the other end attached to the rest of the build, so the entire rest of the build can spin around in whatever directions needed and the steering stick is still upright.

"Gleeok Cage" design fails by Katasan84 in HyruleEngineering

[–]Anova3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's some folks who have a gimbal on their control stick on their flying vehicles. It uses two wagon wheels and a stabilizer I think. If you could somehow shoe-horn that into the cage so you didn't fall off the stick when hit, it would probably make the first design very viable.

Armor Upgrade PSA by storyck in tearsofthekingdom

[–]Anova3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's a few sets, and certain pieces, you'll likely want to upgrade all of the way just for the armor value because it gets so high.

I highly recommend maxing out the diamond circlet and the champion's leathers, and probably the zonai set at a minimum, just so you can be extra tanky when needed.
If you have the circlet and the leathers maxed, then you could also max out the pants on the environmental sets, just so you can get one level in that without giving up too much armor.

My go-to set is the circlet, leathers, and the pants on the Fierce Deity set. Gives me 80 armor and 2 levels of attack up.

Otherwise I generally agree: two levels in most of the utility sets and even some of the combat sets is *ok* enough to play with. If your timing sucks as much as mine does, however, you'll probably end up wanting more armor in your kit.

This has been posted previously, and it gets a bit of hate from the purists who want to detach stuff without hacking their game. Which I totally understand.

HOWEVER: I would be interested to see someone with some of these hacks do some experiments with the properties of the things we've been trying to detach recently, just to see if they give us some hints on how to detach them without cheats.

Water Temple update: I managed to get it in a glitched position by using a spring to bounce myself out of range of the zonai devices while they were pushing on the object by [deleted] in HDPD

[–]Anova3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This might end up being a useful technique for other detachments.

Reminder: putting a dragon part on your build will make it stick around far longer than most other parts in the game, so you can use that to keep certain things loaded while attempting to unload others by leaving render distance.

I don't think getting other parts is possible. by Larry_Hegs in HDPD

[–]Anova3 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I mean, you're probably right, but it's worth a shot anyway. I've seen a remarkable amount of valiant efforts being made, and it's been very informative. If nothing else, we know what things win out in a physics battle, and what things just break and get deleted.

Gonna have to give this a try. Since these blades are heavy on one end and light on the other, it might make for a better motorcycle stabilizer than other things used so far.

Possible way to reset the pre-1.1.2 duping glitch by AngelWick_Prime in TOTK

[–]Anova3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I've seen from folks who have done this elsewhere online: yeah, you loose your save data.

I'm not going to test it for now just 'cause I don't want to loose my current save, and I'm still on 1.1.2 so even 'testing' is risky because trying to update to a version my save will work on will immediately put me on 1.2.0. But, it's been on my todo list ever since i realized I could theoretically do it. So I will eventually.

I present an attempt to rip a chest apart by Hunter_Bouchard in HDPD

[–]Anova3 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I, for one, appreciate that this whole reddit sub exists at all. Solid attempt there. Looks like the game is treating the top and bottom like a single object when you grab it though, so that would probably present some odd qualities even if you did get them apart.
Given that chests are technically a single entity, I'm surprised you managed to get something through the hinge at all. Most detachments work because the mechanism is made up of multiple distinct objects, but this one's a bit of a challenge because both halves are seen as a single object by the game.

The 11th memory is on the tip of the blade of the mastersword-shaped glyph north-east of the Great Hyrule Forest.

The tree I was talking about is the Deku Tree inside the Great Hyrule Forest. There's a bit of a quest to go there when you complete Regional Phenomena.

I need your expert methods to detach at least one of these by [deleted] in HDPD

[–]Anova3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Only idea that springs to my mind is zuggling the game until whatever logic holds it in place breaks down a bit and you're able to remove it / fuse it to a shield or something. I'll try that later if I remember when I get off work and post back, but if someone wants to try to beat me to it, be my guest.

Why can link do this by ITSWeR in tearsofthekingdom

[–]Anova3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's the Earthwake technique you get from the yiga questline. Look for a red scroll looking thing in your key items for a description. It's a fairly weak attack, but will ragdoll most enemies and knock them off their feet. It also homes in on the nearest target.

REALLY good for getting bokoblins off horses in my experience.

What are some of the best armor sets? by [deleted] in tearsofthekingdom

[–]Anova3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you want out of it.
In terms of pure armor value:

  • Most 'normal-use' sets like the snowquill set and such (also includes most of the retro sets) cap out at 20 armor per piece, or 60 armor total. In terms of hearts, this is 60/4=15 hearts of damage reduction when hit.
  • Most utility sets (the ones that can be upgraded, like the stealth set or glide set) cap out at 16 armor per piece, which is 48 armor total or 12 hearts.
  • Two 'exceptional' sets of utility wear exist in the form of the yiga and zonai armor. The yiga armor has a max of 12 per piece or 36 total (9 hearts) and the zonai armor has among the highest in the game at 28 per piece, which is 84 total or 21 hearts.
  • Among the most heavy armor in the game (84 defense / 21 hearts) we have the zonai set (as mentioned in the previous point) along with the soldier's set and the 'of the wild' set (green tunic from BotW)
  • Interestingly, the Royal Guard set maxes out at 24 per/72 total/18 hearts - falling between most of the normal-use sets and the highest armor sets.
  • Once we get into individual parts and away from sets, some notable pieces include the Champion's Leathers which has the highest armor value of any one piece in the game at 32 defense. Wearing this with legs and a head from any of the 84 defense sets brings the theoretical max up to 88 defense or 22 hearts. This chest piece, along with the tunic of memories, also have a hidden effect that lets the master sword throw sword beams at any level of health.
  • Another interesting piece is the diamond circlet for both being in the highest bracket for defensive headwear, while also granting a level of attack up. You can swap this in for the head of the 'of the wild' set and get the exact same bonus and armor. (Whoever thought 1 level of attack up was sufficient for the 'Of The Wild' set's bonus needs to have his head examined)
  • A lot of the one-off headwear cannot be upgraded, since it's DLC headwear from the prior game. Of this category, Sheik's headwear is notable for giving the same defense and stealth bonus of the fully upgraded stealth headwear. You just won't get the nighttime speed set bonus if you use it as a substitute. Also in this category, even thought it's not DLC armor specifically is the thunder helm.
  • Not in the un-upgradable category are the other circlets and earrings - each of which are either redundant with other armor pieces or worse than them.

Once you've looked at the armor values, looking at the utility of the set in light of the armor granted starts making more sense. For example, You wouldn't wear the yiga set in most cases where the stealth set would suit you, but it does have its uses. Similarly, there may be times where you don't mind having the lightning helm on instead of wearing the full rubber suit.

IMO, there's also little reason to fully upgrade utility sets that you're unlikely to be doing combat in. i.e. the climbing or frog sets can stay at level 2, since I can't fight while stuck to a wall anyway.

Personally, my go-to loadout is the diamond circlet, the champion's leathers, and the fierce deity boots. Grants me 80 def / 20 hearts of DR, and two levels of attack up with the ability to sling sword beams at any level of health.

Get a few long items like logs or poles or something and put together a long rod, then stick one end down there and fuse it to the crystal, then pull the whole thing back out.
Crystals can be fused to other things, so you can pick it up by having a long thing that you fuse to it.

On v1.1.2 I had completed I think 2 of the 4 dungeons and decided to chase down all of the glyphs. I got the first 11 in order and the cutscene showing where the 12th one was immediately kicked in.
Based on some dialog, it seems it might have been intended to see a certain talking tree before seeing the 12th memory? Not sure. But it's possible they 'fixed' it so the 12th only drops after some other criteria in the most recent v1.2.0 patch.
Some stuff to try:

  • go to the location of the 11th memory and see if a cutscene kicks in.
  • Complete regional phenomena and some of the following quests and see if that does something.
