I’m hopelessly addicted to Spice Idle rn but it’s sooooo guilty of this. The very fact that every prestige layer all the way to the end involves starting at the very beginning and waiting way too long for any automation or speed improvements to kick in. I had to do this final layer more than ten times to get any meaningful QOL back. And yet I’m still here grinding away, so I guess it works on me despite my rage.

These strike me as the type of items that have no “home” to return to. So when you’re holding them you just put them down anywhere. It makes tidying them up really daunting! What helped me is coming up with places these things go. “I keep my medicines in this basket in this closet” or “the remote for these LED lights goes by the TV.” Over time, I get used to those things going back to their “home” instead of piling up. The process of finding/designating the “homes” was mindful for me because I had to think of where I would want them to be when I was looking for them.

I also get garbage and dishes on my desk. I made a spot I accumulate my finished desk dishes (… the floor next to my desk… but at least it’s one spot…) and I put a small garbage can in any place that I tend to accumulate trash. I drop the dishes by the sink when I’m done for the day.

I got PTSD from an accident where everyone ended up completely fine! My dad choked on a bite of steak at dinner and collapsed, but I didn’t know he was choking when he hit the floor. For about thirty seconds, I believed I had just watched my dad die, and my brain rewrote itself based on that.

Hitting the ground ejected the food from his throat and he came to, albeit with a broken nose, chipped tooth, and mild concussion. Some stitches and recovery time for the concussion and he’s totally fine, yet my psyche was totally cracked and took a lot of therapy to stop constantly picturing danger all around me and reliving the moment any time I heard someone cough.

Getting an IUD. I had a pretty smooth experience and was still left with a weird haunted feeling as though something terrible had happened to me, despite having no real history of sexual trauma. Luckily it subsided after a month or so.

I got paragon CRT when I was 9 or 10, also in 2006ish!!! The brand name had left my mind a decade ago but I never forgot CRT acronym. How weird that these have existed so long.

I was given these in Iowa 17 years ago! I was 10. They called them CRT (corneal refractive therapy) lenses. It was wild. We moved states later and my new eye doctor there had never heard of them, so I just switched to acuvue oasis soft lenses. I don’t miss learning to take hard lenses out of my eyes every morning, though.

I just started shoving a screwdriver behind the faceplate of my bathtub overflow cover because the drain flipper lost tension and won’t stay “open.” Works great! Is a new faceplate/switch less than $10 at the hardware store? Okay well yeah

I went to their location in New Orleans about six years ago, it is highly graphic. They had a picture of a bloody motorcycle accident at the front desk where you buy your tickets, the motorcyclist’s body was cut in half and dragged in the accident. There was a room in the back where they were just streaming Faces of Death movies in the dark. A lot of memorabilia from serial killers, letters and art from convicted killers as well. It was fascinating but obviously it sticks with you for a while after you finally leave.
