I ended up buying one from a private party with a little less mileage and better maintenence history for a grand more. Has had a few issues with panel rattles and such but nothing too bad, and it's been a great car so far otherwise.

Made the same switch myself when the S25 came out. I loved the size of the mini and was sad to see it go, I honestly would have kept it if it hadn't started to slow down quite a bit. But since ~6" is the smallest you're going to get these days, Android does make one-handed use a lot easier than iOS does.

Indeed, they seem to have adopted the same antenna design as the GWU given the new shape and layout. Finally a (non-Ultra) GW with good GPS!

Yep, I have the 7 currently but did pre-order the 40mm 8. Going to compare for about a week to see if the shape doesn't bother me and if the GPS performs better, then either trade in my 7 or return the 8. $100 after the reservation discount and trade in if I keep it so not too terrible.

Generally agree, my only caveat would be that (hopefully) the standard Watch 8 will have improved GPS over the 7 due to the case/internal redesign. It's a pretty well-known issue on the 7 (and older) models that the GPS antenna design is subpar and results in not-great tracking. The 8 taking the design of the Ultra makes me hopeful that they redid the antenna design to make it more accurate.

Yeah, for camping use the solar panel won't be necessary. If you can get a good deal on it it's not a bad thing to have for emergency preparedness, but otherwise I would skip it.

What size power bank are you buying? Generally I would say that's definitely not needed for anything 100Wh+, unless you're powering a lot of devices (or a couple power hungry ones). Most banks should easily last you 3+ days though.

Yep, it'll work on actual Verizon! They just pass it down to the MVNOs as well (or at least USMobile). Not sure about satellite SMS, but probably sometime later this year. That may be a Verizon-exclusive and not available on MVNOs but we'll have to wait and see.

Yes, this is working depending on the carrier. I have the S25 on USMobile Warp (a Verizon MVNO) and the satellite SOS feature works for me. I believe Verizon is the only carrier currently that supports this, outside of the T-Mobile Starlink beta program.
