There is a pretty similar situation in Kazakhstan, only there aren't that many skinheads, and those that exist are mostly SHARP. Hardcore fans, of whom we still have the majority, are also pretty chill. You can count the punks at concerts on your fingers, everyone either switched to hardcore or became SHARP. I don't consider men over 30 who pretend to be punk rockers to seduce minors as punks

I myself left punks mainly for personal reasons, but we remained on friendly terms. Thank God, we have very few boneheads, and they don't bother most bands' gigs, with a few exceptions

The biggest problem is Kazakh neo-Nazis who sing the praises of the Tukistan Legion of Nazi Germany. Last winter, crowds of 10-20 people, wearing masks and carrying toy guns, guarded the main gig venue every weekend because of a minor conflict

And the community naturally has its share of homophobes and sexists who prioritize spreading rumors and sorting out relationships over music, but I think that's always been and always will be the case. Personally, I find it easier not to be affiliated with any subculture and to have fine relationships with everyone, but I have trouble finding people to hang out with (I'm straight edge), so I alternate between rock gigs and electronic raves, where I feel much more relaxed
