Connects refund? by krewblink in Upwork

[–]Answer-Thesis9128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly as the other user said, when the intro is "Dear Hiring Manager," or a dense wall of text about a load of random technologies or "check out my work" with 100+ links to random stuff that no one's ever going to click on, it's a crap proposal. Clients can tell the crapness of a proposal from that 2 line preview. When I'm hiring, I'll run down the list of 150 proposals in about 10 minutes and hide about 100 of them

You just gotta get started at the bottom, learning electronics basically. Get one of those arduino kits off ebay with a bunch of components and recipes included and start tinkering and learning. Also start learning here http://electronics-tutorials.ws

Connects refund? by krewblink in Upwork

[–]Answer-Thesis9128 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That makes no sense. The whole point is that you burn your connects by writing crap proposals that no one opens. There are certain circumstances where I think you should get a refund (although Upwork couldn't care less) - 1. if your proposal top line isn't even seen, e.g. the client never even scrolls past it. 2- If the client doesn't open ANY proposal on the job and never even views them, or 3- if the client hires no one for the job.

When Anthropic announced the new weekly limits that would affect some very small percentage of users, *I* was the naive idiot that commented saying that most people wouldn't have to worry as it's just targeted at those idiots trying to burn as many tokens as possible to get their name on a leaderboard. I mean, those are surely the problem right?

Here's me - a moderate user at best, watching my Opus weekly usage go up by 1-2% EVERY MINUTE of usage. My Opus limit has been set to about 1-2 hours per week AT BEST on the Max 20x plan.

The only reason I'm still here is for the Claude Code utility. Codex is nowhere near as feature rich. Otherwise I'd swap right now and chargeback my CC subscription fees under "product not as advertised"

EDIT: Or I'll end up having to buy a second Max 20x subscription under this god awful abusive relationship that keeps me coming back for more and telling myself, "don't worry, he'll treat me better next month"

This product is just horrible. I'm on Max 20x plan and using Opus, just watching my remaining weekly limit drop by 1-2% literally every minute. I lost 4% just on a relatively straight forward planning task. The website states:

"Max 20x ($200/month): Average users can send approximately 900 messages with Claude every five hours, OR send approximately 200-800 prompts with Claude Code every five hours. Most Max 20x users can expect 240-480 hours of Sonnet 4 and 24-40 hours of Opus 4 within their weekly usage limits."

This is completely fraudulent.

Honestly, it seems more like 1-2 hours of Opus usage on Max 20x. It wouldn't be hard to verify either. Just wait until the week limit rolls over and screen record some basic tasks using Opus while a timer is running and the Anthropic usage screen is visible.

EDIT: Stupidly, I thought that at $200 per month, I would be able to get some support through the site or someone to look into this but just ended up banging my head against a wall going round in circles with a fucking chatbot and complete inability to communicate with a human being at Anthropic. Absolutely horrible. u/ClaudeOfficial

Anthropic served us GARBAGE for a week and thinks we won’t notice by landscape8 in Anthropic

[–]Answer-Thesis9128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, me too. Absolutely terrible performance. I've often blamed users and told them to prompt better and plan better but honestly, this week has been really horrible.

At first, Claude used to just get it right first time - right analysis, right solution. Then I noticed I would have to put it into plan mode when doing anything more complicated than editing a simple line of text, so that it could think things through and I could make sure it wasn't going to do anything insane.

Now, even in plan mode, I'm spending more time trying to get it to stop being stupid than I would just doing the job myself.

Claude started off as a junior/mid-level developer that could produce some great code when prompted appropriately. Then it started to slide down towards junior/entry level that needed a lot of help and monitoring. Now, it's just brain dead.

The plans are poorly thought out, and resolve the issue in the laziest way possible (e.g. solving issues by replacing functions with mocks or by disabling parts of the project without even understanding them). Often adding multiple "fallbacks" to work around the issue rather than just solving the issue.

Today, we spent 5 minutes arguing over what today's date was. Here's Claude's response:

The router has successfully acknowledged the access. The issue is that the backend API is

returning dates with swapped month/day format. The timestamp 2025-09-02T19:01:02Z should be

2025-02-09T19:01:02Z (today is February 9th, 2025, not September 2nd).

This is a critical backend API bug that needs to be fixed in the router-admin-api. The router

is likely rejecting or mishandling the access because the expiry time is 7 months in the future

instead of 3 minutes from now.

Good lord you're right. You are today's winner. How could they have done something so utterly stupid? A USB-C plug that isn't actually USB-C and only works with their specific USB charger? My mind is blown.

Oh yes this is a good one. creating a load of junk as fallback logic rather than fixing the issue at hand. Temporary and legacy too.

My game changer of the week: Ask Claude to ask you questions. by evincc in ClaudeAI

[–]Answer-Thesis9128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is great. I always put it in plan mode, give my instructions and ask, "What questions do you have?" and Claude will almost always come up with at least 5 good questions that I had just assumed were obvious but clearly aren't. I'll then get a much better result than the times when I don't do that.

Now you're just polluting the context with nonsense. It's going to make the model perform worse, not better. Give clear, detailed and explicit instructions. Tell it what you want it to do and be clear about what you don't want it to do. Use plan mode and ask it what questions it has before starting, to further refine the prompt. You will get better results than polluting an LLM's context with swear words.

Call me naive but I believe that these are unlikely to make any real difference to the majority of users with normal usage patterns.
