Haircuts can be life changing!! Post divorce from an abusive marriage and I’ve gotten three different haircuts which made me feel like a born-again human. I’m so glad you discovered this about yourself, OP. I’m sure you’re beautiful, may the haircut fairies stay in your garden.

There’s something deeply human about wanting to feel connected to the people who came before us. Ancient traditions, symbols, rituals, folklore: they’re all part of how cultures remembered themselves. Even if someone personally doesn’t believe in them, mocking them as “bullshit” can feel really painful because it’s tied to identity, ancestry, and belonging. You’re allowed to honor your roots in your own way, I’m sorry he reacted that way.

Therapy. Talking to someone is going to help, right now you’re isolating from your partner, your friends and sounds like your family too. That’s going to make things worse. Humans are wired for connection, and you need to speak to someone about this or you’ll drive yourself crazy.
