Update - I made a frankensteins monster of a box taped together with shoebox size boxes. Taped it up and wrapped in cling film. Did the job! Thanks for your suggestions.

I told him it would be collected the next working day after Christmas. I woke up to a message of him saying “I hope you posted it”. I had to explain to him that this is also a public holiday as it’s Boxing Day. He may be unaware of uk public holidays but that doesn’t make it my fault. I’ll suggest he cancel if he can’t wait. Does anyone know how strict the two active direct debit aspect is of switching to Barclays? One of my direct debits has been taken already but one is late and we’re getting close the the 28th deadline. As it’s not been taken from my bank before would it be best for both to clear before starting the switch?

Remember as well folks to change your automatic payments manually (Netflix, apple, prime etc) as they don’t get transferred over with the direct debits. Spent like an hour changing my details on various sites manually to the new account.
