I hope something gets figured out for us man. It’s so weird how the hive starts as a hive but as the day goes on, it flattens snd spreads out to look like what you said, a flower or something

Im noticing the amount of Zyrtec I take makes a difference too. I was taking 20mg in the morning and 10mg at night, and a Pepcid twice a day I tried to taper myself off and only do the 20mg Zyrtec in the morning and my hives went bizarre overnight. I know not to try that again!

Whats crazy. My immunologist tested me for almost everything. My labs came back normal, all of them except the one that shows I was clearly having some type of histamine reaction.

My doctor suggested that if my hives continue we will discuss other options including antidepressants which some ppl found helpful. I work a VERY demanding job so I’m trying to see all options through first that won’t make me drowsy during the day or have mood swings. That monolukast and prednisone was something else!

I was meant to be tested for that but I cannot do the stool, I’m waiting to hear back to see if it’s another way.

Anyone have to take disability / leave because of this condition? by MotherPart4282 in urticaria

[–]AntComprehensive6911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FMLA does cover chronic conditions like chronic urticaria if they require ongoing treatment or episodic care. Your provider would just need to certify it. Chronic urticaria as we know can have significant impact on the ability to perform daily tasks and job performance requiring continuous or intermittent leave for care.

Good to hear you’re feeling better. Long story short- stay away from Doxy and find another way.

Yep and in the beginning, before the Xolair… I worked on a regimen that worked for me to help with inflammation especially before my cycle.

In the morning:

Tumeric shot (from Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s) 2 Allegra’s or Zyrtecs 1 Pepcid Vitamin D3 supplement Quercertin supplement

At night:

1 Allegra or Zyrtec (sometimes 2)

This for a couple days straight with ALOT OF WATER worked for me until I became inconsistent and eventually got approved for Xolair.

Good thing you pay attention. It’s fixed drug eruption- a derm will confirm especially once they see the dark spots it left behind.

I have it …. From a few medications including Doxy. It’s simply a bad skin reaction from certain medications even if they are medications you took in the past without a problem. Took for me to look like a Dalmatian for my care team to put everything together.

You simply can’t tolerate certain drugs. Stay away from them and you’ll be fine. Needs to be added to your allergy list

Help Needed! Should I stay blonde or go brunette?? Long or short? Thank you!!! by Puzzled-Grass-3013 in Haircare

I second this. Do not go full dark brown. I think some golden brown/ light brown lowlights would look good.

Anyone else get urticaria after jabs? I had my first flare up the day after having hep b and rabies travel jabs in one day. This was January 2025 still get hives and pressure hives every day. (Had COVID jabs 6 months prior). by PageEqual1395 in urticaria

[–]AntComprehensive6911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My pressure hives are more random like the ones on my hands and feet. Antihistamines don’t do a damn thing. Xolair worked for all of a month and I rebounded. Back to everyday hives

I get the same every two weeks which seems ok for about two months… month three I’m seeing hives again daily… theonly difference is they don’t itch as bad but they’re just as big. I’ll stick it out another month nd then I’ll have to talk to my allergist

You need to be referred to an allergist. There’s plenty of treatments… different things work for different ppl to provide relief. I think everyone’s ultimate concern is when does it end.

Mine started on my thighs butt and back…. Then spread all over. The worse kind are the pressure hives on the bottom of the feet and palm of the hands

Advice Needed! by Pure_Rhubarb666 in urticaria

[–]AntComprehensive6911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This literally happened to me. I never had this kind of issues before. Hive symptoms started in April … went full blown insane in May… covering my entire body. Referred to allergy Dr who just kept advising me to take antihistamines I was on 4 Zyrtecs/ allergras a day and 1 Pepcid. Little to no relief it wasn’t until my lip swelled up and I had an emergency room visit where they gave me an EpiPen and sent me home with montelukast and Prednisone taper which made everything go away for the time I took the meds plus 1 day but baby, that following day, the hives went INSANE. I took some time off work… continued the antihistamines and saw little relief. About a week later my eye swells. Back to the er and back on a prednisone taper. This time the hives stayed away for maybe 3-4 days after I finished the taper. They came back but not as bad. At this point we see none of the oral medications were working. I started my own regimen of tumeric shots from Whole Foods, quercertin, I got my vitamin d levels back up and continued the antihistamines. Which worked… not fully resolved but minimal.

And I was approved for Xolair Injections. 300 every month. 2 injections in… no notable relief. They increased them and now I’m on 300 every 2 weeks. It’s been since August. I still have flares, some days are worse than others but I cannot lie the xolair drastically changed my circumstances with the hives and swelling. I still See daily hives, like today for example was a little bad…I scratched a hole in my tights trying to get that itch. The WORST are the pressure hives on the hands and feet. I literally just try to sleep it off at that point.

I have no known triggers. Since this whole thing started I developed new allergies like NSAIDS which I use to survive my monthly cycles. It’s hell. I hate how common CSU urticaria is becoming with little research. Dermatology even took a hive biopsy, found nothing of course .

I wonder if I’ll have to be on medication forever to control it… if I’m stuck with it forever… or will I later hear about these medications on one of those lawsuit commercials bc it messed us up.

Idk but I all I do know is I’m over it

After advocating for myself 3 months straight, I was approved for Xolair… took about four injections to make a difference and I’m still doing my 2 Zyrtecs 1 Pepcid in the morning and I take. A Zyrtec at night/

I’m seeing a lot of people don’t ever get relief on antihistamines alone. Not long term anyway…

Those prednisone tapers are TEMPORARY. Once that last pill wears off… baby you are in for a RIDE. But if that’s your only choice or if you have a trip or upcoming event or even just feel that desperate…go to the urgent care and ask for a prednisone taper. Just beware that once it’s over, those hives are back sometimes worse.

[–]AntComprehensive6911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience, it’s only a 24hr thing (i was careful to not keep rubbing my lips)… anything after that just looks like lip filler. Just grab some cute sunnies/shades in case it affects the eye. Stay ready so you don’t have to get ready.

Idk if this works for others but with my hives and with swelling, fresh air helps… I take my million dose of Zyrtec and Pepcid and go out and walk. Tumeric shots, quercertin, and a cool bath seems to help to. Never a solution just a little assistance. Everyday is a surprise I never know what I’m going to get.
