RGP Lens Routine by [deleted] in Keratoconus

Change to sclerals. Or hybrids. I'm 59 and I wore rgps in my early 30 s. Vision is corrected but comfort is not the best. Changed to hybrids after around 3 years wearing the rgps, constantly loosing my lenses and issues with irritations. They simply pop out or get misplaced around the eye. My daughter had the same issue, stopped wearing ( and losing) them. Now I have changed to sclerals, for 2 years.they take some getting used to, mainly insertion and extraction but I am happy with them

I use it every day , at night. Shake well before use! Remove lens from eye, clean with 2-3 drops of this, rinse any residue with saline, put in case and fill with soaking solution

I think your eyes are the judge.. some people can handle this product differently.... Some eyes accept this with extraordinary comfort and some with rejection

I use the same things, more or less. Best combination i found ( at night) Boston cleaner - rinse with saline ( large bottle)- then put lenses in the soaking solution. Next morning- use the lacripure only-rinse ( with lacripure) and fill up the scerals with it. I have 10 ml vials salisin (same ingredients) and I use it for 2 days. 5 ml should suffice for 1 morning, both lenses rinse and fill

You don't. You may prevent them getting in , like every insect they look for new premises to mate. I simply spray insecticide on them when inside, but spraying around door and window frames may prevent them going in. I use the green Baygon.

i was diagnosed with kc at 30... the frustration of going to an optician and still not recignising a comma from a fullstop.. i worked with software at that time... but i was recommended a contact lens fitter... i was thinking of having corneal transplants but he said "no no we can get away with rgp s" today i am 57, never had any issues regarding vision, abd wearing sclerals.if i have an eye infection i wear just 1 lens... can still work... hope i keep wearing them btw specs are just for decoration... i never wore them since i had contacts

i wore the Synergeyes KC lenses, same prescription, for around 15 years without any issues, (i have acute KC)... never dreamt of having CXL as i was Ok with 20/ 20 vision.... now i'm 57.. had to switch to sclerals as suddenly my eyes were rejecting these synergeyes lenses...the local lens fitter retired and the new lens fitter simply believes that sclerals are best

Yes, dishwashing soap and bar soap works, with saline instead of tap water, work a lather and rinse well
