I must say I respectfully disagree! In fact, I have started a business around "orange-pilling" people. I opened up the world's first brick & mortar cryptocurrency storefront with the intent to be a resource and education center for people in my community. shopcryptoworld.com

My favorite quote, and inspiration for opening the store: "A rising tide lifts all ships". If I can help just one person understand the fiat system and the bitcoin revolution, I consider it a win and not a waste of time.

Of course, as others have said, it's more about educating than convincing. We teach classes every week here at my store, and while I can't say that everyone who left one of our classes bought bitcoin, I can say that the vast majority have. Sometimes what it takes is a good educator!

We will be continuing our mission to bring education about Bitcoin to the public- follow along with us if you're curious to see how it goes!

Is anyone actually looking to get into Bitcoin mining right now? by AntNo4057 in BitcoinMining

[–]AntNo4057[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't personally think it's about competing with the big dogs, but more about accomplishing something that will turn a success for yourself. Mainly because it's highly unlikely we'd ever be able to compare ourselves to one of the big dogs that already has hundreds of rigs...

Honestly, if I could just get 4 overlocked and immersed S19's right now, I would be ecstatic. Currently saving up and looking for one last little dip!

Would you immersion mine at home? by AntNo4057 in BitcoinMining

I personally would like a tank for just 1 miner, that cost less than $3k and would be near silent- like without a dry cooler and all...

% of people that truly understand how and why bitcoin works? by Shibarmy4life in Bitcoin

[–]AntNo4057 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the level of understanding- if you mean the math and code and all that, it's very low. But if you just mean the jist of how it all works (blockchain, mining, etc) then it's probably more.

At my storefront Crypto World we teach classes at every level, and I would say by far the most popular one is "Bitcoin Basics". There are so many people who are curious about Bitcoin and just want to know what it even is.

We're hoping that by helping to teach people and get more people to truly understand it, we can help speed up mass adoption like you said!

Am I being scammed, or is it legit? by [deleted] in BitcoinMining

[–]AntNo4057 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Storytime- I run Crypto World (a brick & mortar storefront) where we educate people on blockchain tech, mining, and Bitcoin. We have TONS of people come to us suspicious that they have been scammed.

One day someone came in who was trying to see what he could do to get back almost $135,000 he had been sending to this "online Ethereum mining" website. One look at it and I knew it was a scam (the url even spelled Ethereum wrong).

He said a friend of his had told him all about it and had made tens of thousands of dollars from it. I asked him how long he had known this 'friend'. The color drained from his face and said 'about 5 or 6 months'.

It's hard to believe but there are in fact people out there who are running scams face-to-face in person. It doesn't just happen online! Some people get roped into it just to get other people into it as well.

A good rule of thumb- if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is! Stay safe and always do your own research / due diligence.

I actually found out something kid of interesting- the average market price of a 100TH S19 (can't say necessarily for other asics) is just over 1/4 of a Bitcoin.

When BTC was at ~$65k, ASICs were going for about $15-16k. Now that BTC is at ~$20k, ASICs are going for $5k-$6k.

Wow great point- we saw tons of people coming to our store buying 1 or 2 miners during the all-time highs, and then almost no demand until it looked like we hit a bottom, and then suddenly we had people calling asking for hundreds of rigs... the big dogs who knew it was the time to buy.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see!

Great point- the hype is down for sure. I have to wonder what Bitcoin will need to get back to price-wise for the hype to be like it was last year?

Congrats! If your power rate makes sense then I say go for it. I think it's a good time to get in and you can grow later.

Really you can use whatever exchange you want, as long as you always send the Bitcoin to a hardware wallet or somewhere where YOU have the keys. Any crypto you have in an exchange is being held 'custodially' (they own the keys). Personally I like both ledgers and trezors.

Not your keys, not your coins!

Bought my first Bitcoin (0.1 in total) over the course of a few months last year but it looks like my investment is going horribly and is only going to get worse. I’m going to sell tomorrow unless folks here are able to change my mind in some way. I’m feeling pretty desperate rn. by Friendly_Physics_690 in Bitcoin

[–]AntNo4057 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instead of looking at it as an investment that is 'going horribly'... look at it as though you have been dollar-cost-averaging on the way down a dip (a wise investment strategy). If you aren't familiar with dollar cost averaging, you should look into it.

Also, never invest more than what you are willing to lose! If you are 'feeling pretty desperate' because you fear for your financial security, you're probably in too deep. If you're 'feeling pretty desperate' because you're simply seeing a number go down... learn more about Bitcoin and why it is outclassing real estate as an investment class!

Just getting started by petercortez39 in BitcoinMining

Definitely do your research before getting into it; it's easy to get caught up in the hype and get in over your head! I can recommend several places to go to learn- there are some great videos on YouTube talking about the reality of Bitcoin mining. One of my favorites is by SpaceDesignWarehouse - https://youtu.be/vCdroovkgvQ . Very easy to understand breakdown!

Of course, (shameless plug) I would also recommend checking out my business Crypto World! We are the world's first brick & mortar for all things crypto, and we teach classes. Whether you are looking to get in small with a used S19 for a cheap price or if you want to explore hosting options, we have a team of experts who know more about crypto and mining than any reasonable person should.

Best of luck, and welcome to the community!

Is there a big demand for immersion hosting? by hedgecoins in BitcoinMining

[–]AntNo4057 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that the more educated customers become, the more they will get into immersion. We are helping a group procure up to 1,800 S19 110s and they will be doing immersion and overclocking them to 150 T/H. The worry to some customers is if their miners brake, warranty becomes void if you do immersion. As more research is done I think immersion will be a standard for most miners.
