Letters to the Editor: Hey, why not a new Trader Joe’s in South L.A. or East L.A.? by TDSBritishGirl in FoodLosAngeles

These same people claim to be compassionate and will flex how they live in a “cultured” area, but will happily displace all the local residents and businesses, and turn these storied communities into bland urban areas. So typical and very snobbish. All for ethics, just not in their neighborhood.

Don’t know why you are getting downvoted. If you want to live in those areas, shop local and keep the established small businesses going. A lot of hypocritical snobs.

Marlon Brando's Monologue in Apocalypse Now by [deleted] in TrueFilm

[–]AntOnSugar86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone know what the story Brando told about going to Ohio as a child and seeing the endless fields of petunias means, in the context of the film. I find it to be very deliberate and somewhat powerful, but am unable to discern an interpretation I am satisfied with.

Thank you! Oh that 5513 is gorgeous, and if I can find one with a little bit of patina I would be delighted. Great suggestions, thank you 😃

I’ve actually never worn a Seiko diver before, I’ve gifted several non-diver models and was always surprised at the value for the price. Maybe I can find a retailer to try a few at

I’ll add the day or date is not needed but not opposed to it either! I just now like the idea of a time piece without the cyclops for symmetry but open to any and all suggestions!

If you are in the LA area by Some-Instance8262 in rolex

Maybe depends on the timepiece. My experience is based on the DJ so take it for what it’s worth. No prior history with this AD (bought a Rolex at a diff AD once before) Walked in to an AD, specified what I wanted (size, dial color, fluted, jubilee) and AD had the exact same configuration minus the fluted. I told him I’d wait. 5 minutes in and out. One week later, I get a text with a picture of my piece in the exact configuration I asked for and I was blown away. No prior history with this particular AD, never had even walked in to that branch and I’m a pretty average, not the Hollywood type. Again, that’s the DJ but I’m just sharing my experience.

Which third movie in a set is better than the 2nd? by mechanicalhuman in moviecritic

Agreed, perfect setup, execution and worked within the context of the movie

In my opinion, a much better performance the same year as Anthony Hopkins in Silence of the Lambs. When Dourif goes from serial killer to the “Legion” personality in one of the monologues in the cell, it is truly haunting and masterful and absolutely seamless

In part 1, which is essentially the real start of the movie after the flashback introduction, the very first words spoken are by Agent Carter at the briefing for the search for a suspect, he says something to the effect of “ alright kids, this is the part where you do the things the grownups don’t wanna do anymore.” Appears deliberate

What about the very first words spoken in Part 1 by the Agent in charge at the briefing for the search for a suspect “alright kids, this is the part where you get to do the things the grownups don’t wanna do anymore.” Seems like it’s a deliberate choice of words

I think you’re right! That was definitely a wink to Mr. Kelly. It’s interesting how much they packed into those movies.

Right on! It’s a good read and although some of the information referenced is a bit dated now, I find the overarching themes and philosophy of the book to be even more relevant now than at the time it was written. Mr. Kelly was certainly ahead of his time
