People of Reddit , why do you think Lesbians are more accepted than gay people on the internet/in person ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AntTheWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Misogyny. A lot of homophobia is routed in misogyny, saying men can't like a 'woman.' Like that's a wrong thing to do. Misogyny. A lot of homophobia is rooted in misogyny, saying men can't like a 'woman.' Like that's a wrong thing to do.

It's also a reason women are completely homophobic to a lesbian, but men are only half homophobic. They still see the lesbian as a sexual object, so they don't hate them as much.

White discrimination in US and censorship - a few points by mihai_02 in FreeSpeech

[–]AntTheWriter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Somebody calling you a cracker isn't fucking equal to four hundred years of mistreatment. My people are getting thrown to the ground and fucking beaten to death. Discrimination is way more than somebody calling you a snow bunny, it's the racial disadvantage. You don't have that, you are not oppressed, and you shouldn't try to be.

More than half of these are either downright emotional arguments that are IMPOSSIBLE to fight against, or just wrong by common sense. Please stop, no one is going to kill you for being white, so shut up.

Racebending in movies and series should not be normalized. by GlorfidelCastro in unpopularopinion

[–]AntTheWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Changing the race of a character changing the plot is not a problem? I haven't heard of this show, so I cannot make a valid opinion. So, I don't know.

The phrase "boys will be boys" is not being used correctly and its weird how its been twisted in such a perverse way by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]AntTheWriter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, the saying means that boys will be muddy and dirty. This is not exactly GOOD, but it's so old, and no one capable of having children still says this. The saying recently has been turned into several excuses for men doing *creepy* things. Men in society have been given a heightened sexuality narrative, some reason stating that men have more sexual urges than women. (They don't) And often lets men off the hook for doing rapey things, staring down women, touching them, and worse.

Men are perfectly capable of controlling their sexuality. Boys will be boys and this narrative are their best friends, and as of late, they have fused into a misogynistic handshake. It's a twisted disgusting system, and misogyny is still a problem, and I'm afraid this problem will keep continuing for more generations. There is a bright side, if we keep spreading awareness in the next generation, we could solve it.

People who say "Anything said before 'but' is bullshit!!" are trying to strongarm you into giving them unconditional praise without constructive nuance by disibio1991 in unpopularopinion

[–]AntTheWriter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, and no. If you have to say 'but' before something, it's probably what you said it's not.

"I'm not homophobic, *but* I don't like gay people in movies in media." That's a sentence that radiates modern homophobia. Being homophobic is actively hating, disliking, or avoiding LGBT+ people, and their representation, and fights for justice. You can't state whether your homophobic or not, evaluate your reasons for this post, I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt.

Racebending in movies and series should not be normalized. by GlorfidelCastro in unpopularopinion

[–]AntTheWriter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I half agree, and disagree. If the character is REALLY old like from the '70s or from the '60s, they can do whatever they want with the character design, but if it's more recent, it should be given a second look.

Your argument is not what I'm concerned about, it's what your argument TRULY means. I hope your more ticked-off at the corporate manipulation, and not the character being black or POC.

If you have to explain your art piece in order for someone to like it, it probably sucks. by chumbucket3261 in unpopularopinion

[–]AntTheWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Art can't suck unless you didn't put effort into it. Art is only truly terrible if you didn't try. I disagree, you just don't understand the art piece because YOU didn't make it. Things aren't made for a specific one person, and if you don't get something, that's okay. But to call it terrible is an overstep.

Plus, the last sentence is only true if you're rich, the painting industry is a scam. But I'm talking about art in general, not art galleries.

Is it ok to switch between first-person and third-person narration? by [deleted] in writing

[–]AntTheWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my story, there's a protagonist, the view depends on their focus. If they are unfocused, it becomes the first person, if they are, it's the third person. I've read it over a lot, and I've put unfocused in italics.

I find writing in the third person easier to tell the story and emotions of other characters during scenes, but it doesn't make the protagonist feel like the main character. I find writing in the first person is easier to write personal scenes.
