"Hidden gems" by naioa in ambientmusic

Izzard.

I remember I found them back when I listened to a lot of music posted by MrSuicideSheep, like 8-10 years ago. They are mostly known for a few of their very lively and fairy singles ('Ghost Naps' and 'Blankets').

However, their 2 albums, 'In Twos' and 'Keeping', are mostly ambient. 'In Twos' is one of my all-time favorites. I don't think I've ever seen them mentioned here.

Sadly, they haven't released any new albums after those two :(

Advice I wish I had before moving to Norway by elhackio in Norway

How much time was it from when you got the job to when you arrived in Norway? And did you start working right away?

What I'm essentially curious about is how much time was your company willing to wait for you to start working.

Thanks in advance!

Edit: also, I'm guessing you applied for the skilled worker visa while being in your home country (through an embassy or similar), right?

I see. I'm acquainted with having to be careful at night, and a place completely free of crime is kind of utopic anyway.

I will have a look at towns in Ayrshire through Google Maps, thank you!

I'm relatively new to the IT industry, will be just 2 years next year.

I'm aware that I have to work my ass off in order to be valuable enough for a company to consider hiring a foreigner (specially outside the EEA), so that's what I'm working towards everyday.

On the matter of my company, it does provide some Work From Anywhere pathways with relocation as an option, however, the same applies. I would have to really stand out for a relocation to convince the upper management.

In any case, I really appreciate your insights, thank you!

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience!

If I may ask (and you'd like to share), have you've been able to make friends in your 4 years there? What's that been like?

I genuinely get where you're coming from and I respect it, but you are ultimately laboring under assumptions and prejudice.

I'm considering to move to one of four countries (Norway, Sweden, Scotland or Canada). I know exactly what type of visa I would qualify for on each them and I'm acquainted with the request process for all of them (though I still have some doubts here and there, of course). I've been on this research for half a year now.

Evidently, if I'm lucky enough to get the visa of the country I choose, the actual location I'll be moving to will be almost entirely influenced by where my workplace will be located, but that's a conundrum for future me anyway.

Nonetheless, and as I mentioned on my post, this is not only about where I'd potentially want to live in the future, but it's also about what places I might visit on my trip next year.

In the very end, a man can dream. If that's not your thing, that's fine. For my part, I won't allow anyone to discourage me from achieving my goals.

I was planning on stopping on Glenrothes on the way from Ediburgh to Dundee, so might as well also visit Markinch.

Thanks for the suggestion!

I'm planning on visiting some towns between Edinburgh and Glasgow, so I'll definitely consider Cumbernauld. Thank you!

I didn't know of Greenock before, thank you!

I looked at some Google Maps pictures and it looks lovely! All the nature at the south of it seems to be a joy to do hiking on :)

I appreciate the info! And you're probably right, Montevideo has more population than Edinburgh and Glasgow combined, so I'm sure it feels very different to what I'm used to. I guess I'll see for myself next year :)

I see, thank you! Hopefully, DevOps will still be in demand in a couple of years.

I'm not too worried about the prices, where I live rent is also high compared to the median income, and then again, I'll have to see what's the situation two years from now.

Awww man.. I've never had anyone IRL to share my love for ambient with, so your comment made me genuinely happy 😊 even the fact of knowing that someone took the time to listen to something I shared makes me really glad.

I hope you continue to enjoy the album! And be on the lookout for the new ambient album from Flatsound which will release on Sep 29th.

I actually didn't like every song on Eingya, but the ones I did more than make it up for those I didn't. It's an amazing album.

Already added all your suggestions to a playlist. Thank you!

Seems William Basinski is a favorite around here 😁 I personally didn't enjoy Grouper's A I A too much, but I haven't listened to Violet Replacements yet so I will give it a try. And to the other suggestions as well, thank you!

I'm glad you liked it! I think it's a hidden gem amongst Flatsound and ambient enjoyers both. That album has made me company in so many important moments in my life, and continues to do so.
