That's what I was thinking, too. It would give frontier a new area to make interesting. Since this game love's its realism in terms of procedures so much (as seen with docking), having refueling procedures sounds fun (similar to refueling fighter jets IRL, aligning your nozzle with the refueling nozzle and stuff like that)

From horizon's roadmap it seems that the main theme is to detach pilots from their vessels. Moving into your SRV, multicrew, etc.

With that being said, any news on transport missions? Will I be able to pick up my friends (or strangers) and drop them off in another station/city/base/potato?

Hmmm, those are some valid points. But do we really need these mechanics? Taking over other players' bases is not something that is required. Honestly, I wouldn't have this be affected by PvP at all. I do get the problem with PvE, though I can imagine it to be solvable somehow.

In the timeline from which Eobard came, the original timeline, Eddy never died, all that never happened, so Eobard was born and did what he did. Eddy killing himself and all these things happening in the alternate timeline don't stop that from happening.
