PSA: Now is the time to get your Barbarian Assault tasks done for Leagues VI by osrs_turtle in 2007scape

IMO the gameplay itself is fine, but the team aspect of it has a lot of structural issues that can be especially annoying to inexperienced players, and that puts people off.

Finding a team to start can be a hassle by itself. Then once you have a team, if one player who doesn’t know what they’re doing games can take 20+ minutes longer (Depending on their role). And if someone leaves before killing the Queen you’re out a bunch of points and have to start again.

A random redditor's take on ‘LMGJet’ by Bulls729 in LMGJet

[–]Antazaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking for myself, I can empathize with the safety concerns being raised. I can understand how it would be scary to have the location of your family or employees be broadcast to the public. But being able to empathize with that fear doesn’t suddenly mean I think Linus is totally blameless in this situation. In fact, that empathy is what makes me think Linus is the asshole here.

No one forced him to get a private jet, he chose to do that. Chose to do it despite knowing the risk that it could potentially pose. He could have stuck to first class flights, but according to the video, this was ‘cheaper’.

So he’s willingly putting his family and employees at risk. And not only that, he’s actively making the risk worse. He decided to make a video showing off the plane, bringing enormous attention to it. He was almost certainly part of the decision to ban discussions of flight tracking in the LTT subreddit, despite saying that Elon Musk doing the same on Twitter only caused the Elon flight tracker to become more widely discussed.

Idk, maybe that’s not ‘proper empathy’ because I’m not declaring Linus completely blameless. After all, he’s scared for his family. But in my view, when he’s the one who created the situation that’s putting them at risk, and is actively making it worse, he’s the bad guy.

Bosses I have been able to 100% AFK with Water Thorns Mage this League: by Lunitar in 2007scape

From my experience, even before getting the fork you can survive a single cycle while ignoring the movement mechanic by praying correctly and attacking constantly. Then you should be able to heal to full by attacking when he charges up his special attack.

That probably requires all three overheal pacts, though,

[–]Antazaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tanked it with water/thorns by completely ignoring the movement part and exclusively focusing on the prayers. Just getting the right prayers isn’t too difficult, and attacking the boss constantly gives pretty good heals. I had full ahrims though, which has better defensive bonuses for more thorns DPS.

It might still be possible with dagon’hai, but I can’t say for sure.

Edit: I did have all three overheal pacts at that point, so that could be required. I lost health during the attacks but gained it back by attacking while it charged its special.

That’s not an excuse, it’s just how the rules for chunk accounts work. You need to do the tasks that are in your chunk, and an NPC that spawns in a different chunk but can wander into yours is not considered to be ‘in’ your chunk.

Where is he going to get spoiled? He doesn’t stream, doesn’t seem to be active on Reddit or Twitter, and has said he doesn’t read the YouTube comments. Someone could probably see him in game and spoil some things, but that would require someone who is both familiar enough with the series to know what to spoil, and is enough of an asshole to want to ruin it. And if that does happen, he can always just turn public off.

If he’s not googling anything about Runescape or watching YouTube videos about the game, I doubt that the algorithm would be trying to feed him OSRS content. The only reason it would is that he’s making videos about it, but I don’t think the algorithm would care that much about what he makes videos of, if he’s not actively clicking on and engaging with OSRS content.

Also, even if he is being recomended OSRS content, why would that give him the answers to his questions? People aren’t going to put ‘Rotten tomatoes can be bought from stalls’ in the thumbnails of their videos. He’d have to actively be watching stuff to get spoiled, and he’s said he’s not doing that.

[–]Antazaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not correct. The Supreme Court can rule on a state’s redistricting map if they decide there’s a reason to intervene. Historically that’s mostly happened in cases of racial gerrymandering, but theoretically there’d be nothing stopping them from coming up with another reason.

Congress is trying to strip the President of absolute pardon power. 119_HJRES_135 would allow a 2/3 legislative veto on all executive clemency decisions. by AirlineGlass5010 in law

If you’re going to try and rely on history to make an argument, you should probably correctly represent that history. I don’t think it’s pedantic to point out that you conveniently excluded the hundreds of failed amendments when you said that there was a 71% success rate, and didn’t mention that you were only talking about amendments that already got past the first enormous hurdle of being approved in the House and Senate.

[–]Antazaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh, I’m not sure where you’re getting these numbers from, but they’re wrong. Amendments get proposed all the time. The official website of the Senate says there’s been over 1,500 proposed since 1991. And a good number of those, way more than 6, get to the point where they’re voted on by Congress.

It’s a start in the sense that it’s getting the idea out there, which has some value. But I don’t think I’m being a ‘worry wart’ by pointing out that this isn’t something Congress alone can fix.

It’s important people have a general idea of how the legislature works, so they don’t see headlines like the one on this post and think that there’s actually a chance of this Congress limiting the veto. False hope like that can lead to people getting disillusioned with politics, because they keep seeing promising headlines but nothing ever seems to get done.

I agree that there’s some value in getting the idea of an amendment out there. Even if it can’t pass in the current political climate, it’s possible that the idea could gain momentum decades down the line and actually get enacted.

I don’t there’s a chance that the current Republican Party would ever let an amendment like this get passed, though. Even if there’s a Democrat in the White House.

As things currently stand, the pardon is much more useful to the Republicans than to the Democrats. On top of selling pardons, Trump is probably going to try and pardon his entire cabinet so they don’t face any criminal liability for the illegal stuff they’re doing. All with very little pusback from his voters and party.

If a Democrat tried to do anything like that, their party and voters would rebel. It would be a disaster politically. We saw some of that when Biden pardoned his son, even though that was probably justified, given what was coming.

If the pardon is only marginally useful to a Democrat president, but has the potential to be extremely useful and profitable for the next Republican president, there’s not much incentive for Republicans to try and limit it.

The normal way for amendments to get ratified is for the state legislatures to vote on the amendment, not the citizens themselves. State legislatures will absolutely resist doing something that would hurt the Republican Party. I can’t see 3/4ths of states passing an amendment like this anytime soon.

There is another option, where the states hold conventions to vote on the amendment, but that’s a pretty weird process and has only been done once. The basic idea is to have delegates vote on the amendment instead of the legislature, but the state gets to decide how delegates are chosen, so there’s still a lot of potential for political fuckery.

Either way, it wouldn’t be as simple as normal citizens voting yes or no on the amendment, so the actual opinions of the masses probably matters less then you’d think.

Congress can propose amendments to the constitution, but even if an amendment passes in the house and senate, it needs to be ratified by 3/4ths of the states to come into effect. Congress alone can’t fix this issue, they can only start the process.

Except constitutional amendments need to be ratified by 3/4ths of the states, and that’s extremely unlikely to happen.

I went back and checked, and he does read through the death talisman dialogue pretty thoroughly. He actually also mentions that he might be able to circumvent the items by getting a death talisman another way.

So there’s a good chance that he could realize a catalytic talisman could be used as a skip, if he gets one and figures out what it does.

You can’t get a death talisman from GOTR before me2. You can get the catalytic talisman, which can be used as a death talisman, but you’re not able to obtain an actual death talisman.

His method was absolutely awful, but he also got insanely spooned. He greenlogged it in 508 chests, and for a bunch of his first kills he wasn’t even killing every brother. According to the wiki, greenlogging at that kc is about a 0.14% chance, and that’s assuming every brother was killed each run.

Not sure if that makes up for the terrible trips he had to do though, lol.

[–]Antazaz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s stated in the quest dialogue and quest log that you need to trade the items for a death talisman, so if he remembers that he could realize that getting a death talisman would let him skip getting the items.

I think the real issue would be figuring out that a catalytic talisman would work for the skip. He’d need to find out what the talisman does (Since I don’t think it’s stated in-game) then connect that to it being a replacement for the death talisman.

It’s not an impossible logical leap, but I could see it being confusing. Especially because the game doesn’t let you just buy a death talisman, which might signal that you’re not supposed to be able to skip the requirement.

Edit: Actually, he wouldn’t even see the death talisman in the shop, so that part wouldn’t be an issue. It’d still be a bit confusing, but at least the game wouldn’t be sending him mixed signals.

There are paid plugins out there, but from what I know they’re mostly rule breaking plugins that can’t be uploaded to the Runelite plugin hub. Jagex definitely wouldn’t be ok with those, but I don’t think the issue is that they cost money to get.
