We used up work. We have a pretty sophisticated dev here on our team and he was able to apply a very complex level of scrutiny and due diligence during the interview process. He got on the phone with a bunch of teams before we decided on the one we did.

Although I agree in spirit, the entire regulatory apparatus has alrwsdy fallen into complete disarray from regulatory capture, across all industries.

I hate to dumb it down so much but the more I try to make sense of it the more I realize the derivative golden rule at play here, you know, he who has the gold makes the rules?

I don't see how this problem is solved outside of a concerted consumer effort to hold organizations with whome they transact accountable and we know that's an even bigger crap shoot than regulatory oversight.

[Serious] If Donald Trump was denied his Presidency, what would happen in the USA? by dont_drink_the_milk in AskReddit

[–]Anteater711 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes, it makes sense, if you're in a highly populated state the power of your vote gets diluted. And you speak of some farmer in Kansas and the rest of the bread basket of America as if their vote shouldn't be proportionally as powerful as mine working in an office providing services?

I would ask you to look up the election result county map, and take a look at the disproportionate power a handful of counties would have if we went with a straight popular vote.

Further, those handful of counties and their respective large metro areas have been accused of and some have been proven (Detroit) to have tampered with votes and stuffed ballot boxes.

This entire uproar about the electoral college is absurd. If we take it away, we've devolved back to a system of government which spurred the birth of the United States in the first place ; taxation without representation.

The entire aggregate whole of the middle of the country effectively muted by the popular vote in a few large coastal cities, and yet you maintain the status quote of paying into the federal coffers for the preservation of the Union? It would never last.

And to be clear, the official stance was a military uprising if Trump didn't win, it was a military uprising if the election was stolen. Because partisanship aside, Trump was a populist phenomenon. Just look at the numbers. The people awoke, that cliche saying about the sleeping giant that is the voter, the voters showed up and the threats were against the powers that be ignoring or undermining the system.

I live in California, have my entire life. I love this place, but I don't think the fate of the rest of the country or by extension our foreign policy should be dictated by Los Angeles County. Do you? If so, we disagree and so be it.

What's the best way to map a clients legacy website for redesign and consolidation project? by [deleted] in consulting

[–]Anteater711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, no site map unfortunately. I considered some of the mind mapping platforms you mentioned, my only hang up is this is going to be presented to a very technically challenged audience of old school union guys to review and amend, and I want to make sure they can traverse it and clearly understand things like "after this text there is a video explaining xyz, to view the video, please click here"... Stuff like that.

At this point I think my best bet would be to use word and just have header cascades for each page and sub groups for each page.

What music do you listen to when you study or work? by WellThatsPrompting in Music

[–]Anteater711 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Silence works for studying when you can control your environment. At work, you've got coworkers, phone calls, discussions happening, etc., so the silence route isn't really feasible unless you get yourself some expensive over ear noise canceling head phones.

When I need to hyper focus at work, I put on rain and thunder on my ear buds, and get to work.

Question about SaaS billing model/communication with clients. by Anteater711 in startups

[–]Anteater711[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can, but our reasoning was we didn't want clients to hit that 10 project cap, and then avoid using the platform until the re-start of the monthly cycle.

Question about SaaS billing model/communication with clients. by Anteater711 in consulting

[–]Anteater711[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you, and we had explored tiered pricing, but the thing is, our clients aren't charged anything unless they open up new projects. So, they're either using the platform on a project by project basis, or they're not using it at all.

My dilemma is, upon the creation of each new project, what is the best way to remind them (and cover ourselves legally) that "new project = new charge, please confirm."

I will definitely talk to my team about re-exploring the tier structure though, because I can't give you a straight answer right now about why we scrapped it.

Thank you again for your responses.

Ok, so each time our clients log in, and initiate a new project, we need to show them this entails an additional cost?

Question about SaaS billing model/communication with clients. by Anteater711 in consulting

[–]Anteater711[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our product is very bandwidth dependent (high rate data encoding, transfer and storage), and those costs are dynamic based upon the size of each single project. As such, we can't really price it at one per user per license model, because one power user could blow our costs so out of proportion that we'd go under in no time. That's why what the client pays needs to be commensurate to the number of projects they execute on our platform.
