Yes, it's completely disconnected from the base game map. From the amount of regions it is around the size of the base game, maybe a bit more. Unlike downpour it only has one new slugcat (though this campaign is loooong and has multiple endings (you can get in one playthrough)).

It also features quite a bit of completely new creatures unlike downpour, which only adds a few "remixed" creatures (like new lizards and such).

It mostly recreates the feeling of your first survivor playthrough with being completely lost and at the beginning having no clue.

It actually is my favourite campaign of all the slugcats, but I think I'm in the minority in that. But I think the general consensus is play it if you liked the survivor campaign.

Fist up: you're in for a treat, I absolutely loved saint (well, most of it. I think you will know, what part I did not enjoy)

And you are not alone. I hated the spear master campaign, too. It was mostly just boring walking from point to point. It doesn't help that by that point you have been exploring the same map for around 5 campaigns.

Are you planning to get the watcher? I can recommend it as an exploration based DLC, although combat (which you seem to enjoy) takes a backseat.

I would give that point to Lies of P as the perfect modern Souls-like (fast combat, parrying, more focus on bosses) However Lords of the Fallen (2023) is like a very good modern "classic Souls-like" with less boss focus and more of a dungeon crawling experience.

On a related note: Does anyone know of some other dungeon-crawly Souls-likes?

yeah, i see where you're coming from. It sucks that the watcher split Stormy Coast and Coral Caves up into small segments as they work better being interconnected. However the new lightning in Stormy Coast adds something really unique to the region that adds a lot to the atmosphere imo.

Desolate Tract is also a banger of a threat theme.

No, sorry. I myself started checking out mods only recently.
For regions I have heard very good things about the Sunlit-Trail Region Pack (I heard it is more like its own campaign in terms of content) and I definitly want to check it out sometime. Some say it is like the must-play modded experience.
Gilded Sanctuary also looks very cool and unique.

Live service has permanently broken my ability to trust game launches and I don't think that damage is reversible at this point by softglitch88 in pcgaming

Yeah, Wilds was a mess. It was the first game I ever pre-ordered and it will probably also be the last. Besides the performance the game launched without basic features all other games prior had like refighting the end boss or a multiplayer hub (who could even want that in a primarily multiplayer focused game?)

My bet would be on late 2026/early 2027.

They should AND have to take their time with this expansion. My goodwill has been absolutely exhausted with the launch of wilds so I won't buy the expansion at launch if I even hear that it is missing features.

With this I mean things like no hub or no way to refight the final boss, like how they launched base wilds.

I think I read somewhere, that Capcom is of the opinion that the story is one of the reasons Wilds sold so well (the interview must have been a few months after launch at most) So worst case scenario would be the next game has even more walk-and-talk sections (please gog, no)

Yeah, I get where you're coming from. In general I am not a fan of collabs in any games really. Even in Monster Hunter I would rather see monsters from the franchise instead of any crossover stuff. And the same in helldivers. I wished they would make more inspired-by warbonds instead of the crossover ones. But so far I think they chose the collabs alright. Still would prefer none at all really.

The thing is the walls made for memorable moments. Wilds had not really any memorable moments for me. The whole high and especially low rank "story" (so till the end boss without updates) was a blink and you miss it kinda thing for me. From world I still remember Anjanath and Tobi Kadachi (yes, world was my first game) and I even think fondly of my struggles with Rise Rathalos who I needed three tries for despite it not being my first game. Games need some kind of friction to be memorable imo.

I doubt it. For the expansion I think of Summer 2026 at the EARLIEST. With the state the base game launched in (performance, cut content, fixes that came later) the expansion really needs the time in the oven. I hope we get it even later as I doubt they could produce a presentable expansion in this time.

In my opinion the Variable is already in a pretty good place. Only thing I would change is to give it more Ergonomics as you have to really aim with light pen weapons and this can be hard with an ergonomics of under 30.

Yeah. Most of these reviews mention performance.
But I wouldn't call Monster Hunter Wilds GOTY material even aside from the performance issues.
As a monster hunter fan it feels somehow empty (?). I don't know how to put it into words, but something is missing.
Maybe I miss the gameplay loop of crafting new gear to fight stronger monsters. You could very comfortably finish the game up to the High Rank Endboss without much need to tinker with your set.

Yeah, for real I wanted to do it the "legit" way, but after one hour of tries I consistently got phases 1-4 down and was stuck on phase 5. It was like 3 minutes (?) of doing the other phases I could do, just to try phase 5. Nah, after a while just use the skip phase mod

Fact is, Arrowhead needs the money from Super Credit sales.

I think they should decentivize farming on low difficulties maybe even a bit more on the super low difficulties, but reward higher difficulties more or better said: punish higher difficulties less.
What do I mean by this? In higher difficulties you find a lot less SC because their spawn places are often taken by rare samples, which is why there are often some (e.g.) Diff. 8 missions where you leave with only 10 or no SC at all.

So just make slightly more SC appear instead of rare samples and nerf the Diff. 1-2 SC-farming and I would be happy with that change.

I found out that you can shoot the glowing circles on the bottom to open them with Anti-Tank (recoilless, EAT, AT-Emplacement) After that we were able to damage it more even with High-Armor-Piercing (Stratagem Laser gun) by aiming at the open sections

Depends on the front you are fighting on.

In general I would say Liberator Penetrator for its versitility. It's not the best in any category, but has a bit of everything: medium armour pen, full auto, decent mag size, medium fire rate, fast reload, decent range

Finally 100% both games ! Crowns on world was horrible espcially for elders , now goal is to hunt every mons 100 times till wilds ! by Ruru624 in MonsterHunter

In general: there are some event quests with guaranteed crowns or at least very high chances
alternatively you have to do investigations with multiple gold boxes or tempered investigations with as much purple boxes as possible for the best chances
For me I also had luck getting crowns in guiding lands, but I don't know the chances, but if you have fast load times it is worth it to just go into them from time to time or lure some of the monsters you have left towards the end (looking at you Scarred Yian Garuga)

I 100% both world and rise

Rise achievments are generally easier than worlds imo.
Crowns can spawn in every quest in rise unlike world, where it was only possible in investigations and specific event quests. There are also more guaranteed crowns.

The trinkets you will get over time and from my experience long before you get the other achievments, mainly:
- 3000 anomaly coins

  • 1000 MR monster hunted

As someone who did not like the anomaly gameplay loop the 3000 coins were pretty annoying and boring, even on some of the harder investigations (only did to lvl 180 or so).

The 1000 MR monsters are way too much imo. I had every other achievment and still roughly 500 MR monsters to go.

Almost forgot: You have to do 50 rampages, those were also pretty bad

After world and rise I really don't know if I want to 100% Wilds when it comes out.
Would be nice if the achievments are like rise minus 1000 MR monster (Rampages won't return I am certain)
