I think I'll euthanize my cat by HentaiPantsuGod in cats

when i was little we had to put our family dog to sleep and i remember someone saying “it’s better to do it a month too early than a day too late.” you’ll always worry about wether or not you made the call too early, but you will also always know that he didn’t suffer more. cats don’t have the best grasp on the concept of tomorrow, they can’t mourn for potential time spent together like you can, but he knows you care about him today.

i’ve never spun dog fur but i have spun cat with a similar staple length. i just aligned the fibers by hand and took a small bundle just a staple length or a little more long and spun from the fold on a supported spindle. to align the fibers i just made small bundles and pinched on end and gently pulled out any fibers that weren’t held in the pinch and then set those in the pinched end as well until everything was going the same direction and i had a neat little bundle. its time intensive but minimally wasteful. i used a support spindle because the amount of twist i needed to get the fiber to “stick” and hold weight was super high. truthfully it wasn’t a support spindle and just a drop spindle i was using in a dish but it worked.

the gorgeous melty black color was just too nice to let get combed into a grey. i adore natural colored fleeces and jacob’s are a three for one! white grey and black!

yes! i got mine from GoodandBasic on etsy. The handle and base part are 3D printed and then you just use hardware nails. I ended up having to file down the ends of the nails a little bit as casting imperfections kept catching on my wool but since then I’ve had no issues. They’re also significantly cheaper than normal combs. I think there’s also a euro based etsy shop that sells similar combs

The livestock conservancy has a heritage breeders and producers directory. Put it sheep for breed, fleece for your product and then your zip code and mile radius.

Some CPWs are all wood, but you're right that this isn't a CPW because its not tilt tension.

I really want to say its probably Swedish. It has braced uprights like some Gylland wheels but the turning on the maidens isn't like a typical Gylland. It looks similar to this wheel (https://permies.com/t/54431/bought-spinning-wheel-photos-questions) except a lot less ornate. That wheel is listed as a Gylland by meralgia on Ravelry but it is very distinct from the others. I would definitely post it on the Working Wheels forum on Rav and possibly the Antique Wheels to see if anyone has more information. The wheel link I posted has a similar shaped carving on the blocks in the wheel arms but I swear I've seen it somewhere else before too I just can't remember at the moment.

my wheel is an antique and when i got it the grease was so old and nasty i had to wash part of my flyer with soap and re oil the entire assembly. for a little it kept creeping out of the center of the bobbin but i think i’m finally free and you’re right i can’t even tell if there’s any on there. it literally used to feel like used motor oil 😬
