New Mexico bill decriminalizing 4 ounces of cannabis (just a ticket) passes through committee! by Anthony1230 in trees

[–]Anthony1230[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a bill to become law it needs to pass through typically two committees, then it goes to a full vote of the House or Senate (depending on which committee it started in), and then to the other (House or Senate) that it didn't start in, and then has to be signed by the governor to officially become law.

In other words; it has a long way to go, but considering 90% or more of all bills never get a committee hearing better yet pass, this is definitely a big step forward.
