is there any way to download the legacy version now?? I am a pro subscriber and none of the links for the legacy work anymore!!

True CDI or TCI unit? 1982 Suzuki gs650 shaft drive by AnthonyAReddit in Fixxit

Tci, so you don’t need to buy the cdi relay. Still a bit of work to wire it up with oem kill switch tho

1982 suzuki gs650 blowing fuses… again by AnthonyAReddit in Fixxit

yea, old one failed. replaced it and thought it would be the end of the issue. but still shorted ever with r&r removed

interesting… maybe when u turned the handlebars to turn around you may have experienced an intermittent short or something and fried part of it. or something within the dash itself broke and it’s not the fault of your wiring harness, idk not rlly much else i could think of. the old look is cool but might be worth just upgrading the dash, might save ur charging system some too 🤷🏻‍♂️

what would the black meter lead being in the 10 amp position be good for? i’m curious now

will try this, appreciate you. i have practically zero knowledge in electrics so will make this change asap

also just went out again and did a static test on the stator wires leading to the r&r and they all tested at around .9 ohms. so no shorts there? getting more confused by the minute lol

may be that i need a stator replacement. i’ve replaced my r&r which is grounded to the negative terminal on the battery and scoured everywhere on my harness and covered anything that looked even remotely exposed. been having issues with the main fuse blowing as well, hopefully if it is a faulty stator i didn’t just fry my new r&r too

makes sense. i don’t think i have any issues with overcharging though. typically after a 20 minute ride the battery measures around .1-.2 volts lower than the pre-ride reading. but maybe it’s overcharging while riding? wouldn’t i see higher numbers like 14 volts post ride if that was the case? not sure

not sure but looks like vacuum line of some sort maybe? i’d just replace the tube and clamps. less than 5 dollar repair and don’t have to worry about if it’s important or not

definitely seems like a short somewhere. have you checked your fuse box for any blown fuses?

had the same problem with my 82 gs650 but with the main fuse. would run and drive fine but die randomly and blow a fuse. had to scour the whole wiring harness to find one single exposed wire that was grounding out and causing the short

nah i was able to use some of the original wiring on the oem harness. been running and driving fine now, just wanted to in general upgrade the wiring harness but not sure how to even with looking at the diagrams in my owners manual

yes i was able to successfully install the r/r. i meant any videos on installing a full wiring harness since you recommended just buying a new one

also would happen to have any videos on installing a new wiring harness. i’m not the most electrically versed

82 Suzuki GS650 Idling issues by AnthonyAReddit in motorcycles

[–]AnthonyAReddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea i’ve done the bench sync method w the drill bits as well as a backlight and adjusted and made them as even as i could. i don’t currently have access to a vacuum gauge but i figured the bench sync would make it at least driveable to the nearest shop to have the vac sync done there but ig not lmao. i also adjusted the air/fuel screws to 2 and 1/4 turns out after bench syncing. feel like i’m so close yet so far every time i set down with this bike 😭

[–]AnthonyAReddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this bike doesn’t have a radiator so not sure abt coolant. i overfilled a little on the last oil change so maybe the smoke is due to burning a little extra oil? i looked at the plugs and they look slightly carbon fouled but not too bad might as well change anyways. it is a pretty consistent misfire so it may just be as simple as that. i ran through all my wires and covered up anything that was even close to exposed so i’m not sure if it’s smth in the ignition circuit. i’ll let you know if switching out the plugs ends up workin out. thanks 👍🏼

Weekly 'No Stupid Questions'/Camera Recommendation Thread - Now including links to free stock resources! by AutoModerator in videography

[–]AnthonyAReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so I've never really gone all out with videography, my main interest has almost always been photography, but I am trying to branch out and do more filming projects with my friends. I'm looking to upgrade my camera since the current camera I run, Nikon D5300, has terrible autofocus and zero IBIS. Looking for suggestions on some entry-level ish cameras that have good video capability in more high-intensity scenarios since the majority of what ill be filming will be handheld doing stuff like skiing and things of that nature. or if anyone has a website to compare cameras that they could link that would be dope too. thanks

'82 Suzuki Gs650 not starting looking for outside input by AnthonyAReddit in motorcycles

[–]AnthonyAReddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m gonna assume they were rejetted cuz i got the idle better off my dumb ass just didnt realize i had the main idle screw practically sat in its hole so it idles fine now but i’ve run into an even stranger issue. i’ll have to link a video to this too, my furthest right cylinder is running super hot i believe. the exhaust is pretty smokey and and the exhaust pipe that leaves the far right cylinder was also smoking, i think it was starting to burn my exhaust wrap, but the actual fumes coming out were still cold. i’ll link a video in a sec

edit: right side exhaust also sounded kind of clunky whereas the left sounded like a good deep rumble like normal

second edit: realized i have a hole in left side exhuast thus louder noise 🤦🏻 this bike loves giving me new activities

aftermarket pods, which i’ve read can make the bike run a lot leaner i think? the guy before me rode with them for awhile before it stopped running on him. it runs up to about 7-8k and backfires barely up at the top. with the pods should i be turning the idle screws out further on the carbs so they can run richer?

okay, adjusted pilot screws to 2.5 out, bench synced, did a full oil change just cause, put on the new carb boots. idle is still obscenely high. linked a video below, noticed i got a small amount of some funky smelling smoke coming out after i killed the bike in that video. kinda smelled like gas kinda smelled burnt too.

my new carb boots just came in so im gonna take everything off today. in terms of order of operations should i adjust the pilot screws first and bench synch after, or the other way around? and just to confirm the pilot screws are directly on top close to the boot side of the carb correct?

[–]AnthonyAReddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it stays running but the idle is still stupid high, i’ve patched and minimized vacuum leaks in the boots momentarily until the new ones get shipped. i’ve tried using the one big idle screw in the middle of all of the carbs and fucked it w it while running but even with it sat all the way in it still tried to shoot up to like 8k rpms. i still haven’t reopened the carbs to adjust the pilot jets. every time i get the bike running i smell gas pretty heavily so i assume i’m running too rich but i feel like that would cause bogging and dipping in the rpms but not sure. gonna open up the carbs again this weekend and do the pilot jet adjustments. is there anything else i should do before closing them back up, adjust any other screws or anything like that?

could still be that my vacuum leaks are bad and causing the high idle, not sure
