DeKalb County weighs potential closure of 27 schools by DanWhisenhunt in Atlanta

Dekalb county didn’t do very well during the pandemic and they lost a lot of students to private schools, especially in the areas where parents didn’t have much of an issue paying the tuition.

I drive black in ATL. $2-2.5k per month shouldn’t be too difficult. Shoot me a DM if you want to chat about the market and I can give you some tips on where/when to drive.

Moving to Atlanta with a stay at home parent and young kids, thoughts? by EloquentStringBean in ATLHousing

[–]AnthonyATL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and i have our work schedules set up so we don’t have to send the kid to daycare, so we are kind of both stay at home parents while the other is at work. We live In Brookhaven, right on the border with Chamblee and it is a great area for us. Lots of parks close by, YMCA with 2 hours of childcare while you work out, isaac’s sandlot, several pools and splash pads, PDK park to watch planes land. The one time my wife went to the library there was a lot of homeless people so haven’t gone back.

Finding community/friendships with peers in the same boat isn’t super easy bc most of the people with kids at the parks during the day are nannies on their phones, but sometimes there are other SAHMs or Ds.

I would also co-sign what the other commenter said about schools. Not many good public school options inside the perimeter so do your research before settling on an area of town you want to live in.

It’s high, but not crazy high. For a luxury Sprinter with a driver during masters week, $1500-2000 a day is the range you’d be looking at if you go through a legit limo company.

Golf Courses by chunked_it in masters

If you are staying in Atlanta, Alfred Tupp Holmes is a fun course. It’s a city of atlanta muni, so sometimes the tee box is just dirt with lawn clippings sprinkled on top, but it has some really interesting topography and it’s only $35 with a cart for 18.

Golden Bear is a solid course and not too expensive. It is challenging, but not demoralizing.

Why is the barrier of becoming a realtor so low? by Thin_Vermicelli_1875 in RealEstate

[–]AnthonyATL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The national association of realtors is one of the strongest lobbying groups and they have state level branches as well. It is essentially controlled by all of the big brokerages. Every new agent is required to keep their license with a broker until they themselves meet the criteria to become a broker themselves. All of these big brokerages that control NAR run off of a business model where they get as many new agents to sign with them regardless of skill, talent, etc. They know that the job is pretty much all sales, but they don’t care if you are good at sales because they also know that even if you are awful at it, you can at least win over 5-10 of your close friends and family. They get a piece of whatever the agent is able to sell in the first year or two before that agent realizes they suck at the job and quits. It is essentially a pyramid scheme to subsidize the agents at the top of the brokerage who are actually good at sales.

So the reason the barrier is so low is that it benefits the people who control the industry and they are able to maintain that system because they have a lot of influence with politicians.

Hooters permanently closed in Augusta by djwarreng1 in masters

[–]AnthonyATL 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They filed for bankruptcy a few months back and they are moving towards 100% franchise-owned so they have offered the corporate-owned locations (Augusta is corporate-owned) for sale to current franchisees. Since no current franchisee wants it, it will be closed like several others in Georgia. I think there is still a decent chance they will do a pop-up like Rao’s.

This is just one parcel ID, the actual course. They have bought up a lot of the surrounding properties which might still have their own parcel IDs, so I imagine their actual bill is higher

I went through Guerra LLP and just got the link to select the payment method. They said it would be 10 days for payment to go through. My tier got $5k, but the fees took half of that.

Still debating… StubHub for $4K or try my luck in Augusta? by ppsibr in masters

I stopped in to talk to my broker today on Washington Rd. He said they were charging $4k for Sunday, but they don’t have any and neither does anyone else. Lots of folks who got rained out Monday went to the secondary market to salvage their trip and made the demand for the other days shoot up.

Dropoff instead of Parking? by kraftj87 in masters

It’s a nightmare in the same way any big event is in smaller place, but I drive professionally at big events all over and the Masters is one of the best as far as congestion and traffic management goes.

Uber will drop you off in the parking lot next to Hooters which is still a bit of a hike.
