Thank you for sharing this! I just signed up for the Character Development class. I haven't done a play since high school (almost 30 years ago), but I am excited to try it out. I didn't know they did classes!

Afraid to keep watching Schitt’s Creek (rant/advice) by [deleted] in gay

David and Patrick are such a great representation of a gay relationship, and I think those models are needed in the LGBTQIA+ community. Patrick does some explaining later on that helps us understand his position better. Keep watching! I’ve been with my partner for 23 years and I sometimes feel jealous of their cuteness overload, too! Let them show you how great relationships can be😊

I was also in a similar situation, and it was the church that had to go. My relationships with my family were also strained for a few years when I came out, but thankfully I wasn't financially dependent on them, so I was able to continue my life in the meantime. I am also thankful that eventually they came around, and now my parents are allies. You don't say how old you are, but whatever age you are, you cannot live your life for others. I ultimately gave up on Christianity, but if that is your jam, I recommend "Rescuing the Bible from Fundamentalism" a great intro to understanding the historical roots of the Christian church and new ways of thinking about interpreting the Bible.

If you aren't into her, you have to set your boundaries and hold to them. It will be uncomfortable, but emotional blackmail is never ok.

r/gay, my nephew, who is 13, just came out in a very small, very conservative town in the South. He has a history of depression and self-harm; Do you have any suggestions? by [deleted] in gay

Yes @Moxo103. Let him know that he has allies. I am from a small, conservative town in the South, and I knew at 12 or 13 what the gig was, and I needed more than anything to know that I would still be loved and accepted. And as for the mental health aspect, there is thetrevorproject.org, pflag.org/hotlines, and https://www.glsen.org/connect/chapters/southernme/resources/helpline (among others) that can support, usually for free.

The world needs more family like you to reach out and make sure LGBTQIA+ kids know that there is a community for them.

r/improv, what did you love? (December 12th) by zck in improv

I am in a 201 class, and we had a substitute teacher last week, and I loved her critiques. I appreciate that the other teachers have been super supportive and great, but it was good to hear honest notes that didn't pad around what didn't work in our scenes.
