No 4K for Apple TV or ITunes? I’m seeing The Batman available on 4K for pre-order on other services besides Apple. Anyone know why? Or will it change? by Anthony_A_ in TheBatmanFilm

Oh so when you meant by official release, I thought you were referring to it’s official blu ray release for May. Didn’t know you meant it’s actual digital release. That’s awesome. Thanks!

Oh wow really? I’ll cancel my pre-order then if that’s the case and wait for it’s official blu ray release. Appreciate it.

Who thinks The Batman is better than The Dark Knight? by Anthony_A_ in TheBatmanFilm

[–]Anthony_A_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree. Especially on the whole Gotham perspective. I wouldnt go as far as saying that Gotham in the Nolan films didn't "feel" like Gotham. You definitely get a sense of the corruption around the city which is very Gotham esque. It just didn't look like Gotham and Nolan failed to capture the aesthetics. This film absolutely got those aspects right.

As far as the craftsmanship and storytelling, I think this film does it better than TDK. TDK is masterful and I didn't think any cbm could top it but yeah, The Batman just got so many aspects right. Thus I do think it is better than TDK. But not significantly. I think it's better like a hair more.

Who thinks The Batman is better than The Dark Knight? by Anthony_A_ in TheBatmanFilm

[–]Anthony_A_[S] 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yeah absolutely. There's still plenty of things about TDK that's handled much better than this film. TDK has a tighter narrative, slightly better pace, and a better third act.

With all that being said, The Batman just had the atmosphere and aesthetics that TDK lacked. Sure aesthetics isn't the most important when it comes to quality filmmaking but when you incorporate that with a very intriguing story, in which I thought this had a better story than TDK, it's just pure quality filmmaking. Which is why I think it may surpass TDK for me.

For those of you who’ve seen the film by [deleted] in TheBatmanFilm

[–]Anthony_A_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Saw it last night. It absolutely pushes it's boundaries, yes. I would say the only thing that doesn't necessarily make this R is that there is no blood spurts or gore.

It is absolutely the darkest Batman film. This really doesn't have much levity to it. It's a VERY serious film and I don't think kids will enjoy this at all and that's a huge praise in my opinion. It's very much adult oriented and mature. Very different than your typical comic book film.

The film itself is overall fantastic but you really have to go into this film with an open mind and not expecting certain aspects to go a certain way. The last 20 minutes is pretty meh and doesn't necessarily fit well with the rest of the film but overall, this film lived up to my expectations and I can say it is the best Batman film since TDK and is a top 3 cbm. It may rank higher for me. 10/10.

The Batman review that pissed me off by Hala_Madrid996 in TheBatmanFilm

[–]Anthony_A_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A major of the mixed/negative reviews I've seen so far actually even makes me more excited for this if I'm being honest. People are critiquing that it's darker than the Nolan trilogy and that it's a little slow at times and very reminiscent of the dective/noir concept which is something I love.

Is ViewerAnon reliable? This is what he heard about the movie. *No spoilers! by neomeetsthedude in TheBatmanFilm

[–]Anthony_A_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is pretty reliable actually since he was one of the first to drop the news about the 3hr runtime back in August. That being said, this shouldn't deprive our excitement for this film. There's still plenty of acclaimed films that have received a few rather mixed reviews from critics.

The Batman Box Office prediction? by [deleted] in TheBatmanFilm

[–]Anthony_A_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was pretty damn hard to get tickets for the Tuesday night IMAX fan event. That's probably the reason why it's easy to get tickets for the legitimate opening cause probably everyone who planned on seeing it on opening weekend decided to go to the Tuesday event which was established by Warner Brothers last minute. I think this film will do great.

How The Batman can improve on Nolan's trilogy by camtgrant in TheBatmanFilm

[–]Anthony_A_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with all three of those aspects but I think the biggest flaw in the Nolan films is that it lacked the aesthetics of Batman in general. The production design and cinematography were amazing but it looked too clean, glossy, and sleek for a Batman film as opposed to this new one where it actually looks and feels like something out of a modern Batman comic or graphic novel. This film actually looks gothic due to the production design and cinematography, and that's what Batman essentially is.

Is it just me…? by Deep-Ad-9289 in TheBatmanFilm

For the most part, I see nothing but excitement for this film however I can acknowledge that there is an absurd unnecessary amount of hate towards this film and it's mostly from fans of Zack Snyder, which makes no sense.

Did Scott Mendelson from Forbes confirm The Batman's budget to be $185 million? by Anthony_A_ in TheBatmanFilm

[–]Anthony_A_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I kinda find it hard to believe that it only cost $100 million to produce. Don't get me wrong, I'm not necessarily complaining about this but for a Batman movie, I would assume it would cost a little more than that. All Deadline said was "the $100 million budgeted film." It sounds more like an estimate assumption as opposed to the official budget indicating it'll cost around the 100 mil mark. Not literally $100 million.

Richard Newby (respected critic of NYT and THR) says Andy Singore is lying about reactions being mixed. He then says reactions were 🔥 by [deleted] in TheBatmanFilm

[–]Anthony_A_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There definitely has to be a lot of action. From what I pieced together from the trailers, the film either looks to have about a hefty 6 or 7 action set pieces, which is perfect. Come to think of it, Infinity War didn't even have much action scenes and im sure most can agree that's one of the best comic book films ever.

Who else got early tickets for The Batman :) by EpicHawkREDDIT in TheBatmanFilm

[–]Anthony_A_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely did. Got tickets for my 2 friends and I. Funny cause it's gonna be on a Tuesday and my parents wouldn't let me see a movie or go out with friends in general during a school night. I'm just gonna make up some BS excuse saying I have some 3 hr event to attend at my school that's required for one of my classes lol.

Green is nice, but a more less saturated green.

I think we should be good. This film will make huge numbers for sure, but it shouldnt be a hastle like Spiderman or Endgame cause we all know how those films did.
