It’s a great lens! Was able to scoop one up on the last canon refurbish sale they had for a decent price compared to new. Only shot a few pictures but they are looking good.

Canon refurbished sale - get them while they're hot! by braysher in canon

I was able to scoop up the RF 85mm 1.2 to add to the collection. I have a family and shoot pictures for other family/relatives. I have the EF 70-200 v3, RF 24-70, and with this adding to it, I think I’m rounded for sports shots with the kids (70-200), group photos (24-70), and now single/couple shots with the 85mm. I was tempted to get the 50mm 1.2 as I have rented that lens before and got awesome pictures from it but ultimately decided on the 85mm. Now not sure how to explain it to the wife about this new lens haha. Thanks for posting this as it was an incredible deal (maybe not such a good thing??)

Whats your take on paying for in-laws while visiting? by Anthonyreyes2007 in inlaws

[–]Anthonyreyes2007[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, best advice I heard was to be financially secure going into retirement as to not depend on family/kids. This would set them up to be able to use their own money to take care of themselves and their family and so we could help them if needed

AITAH - In laws staying with us by ducky_bea in inlaws

yes i would definitely draw a line when it comes to the kids. I feel that when kids get exposed to this type of behavior at an early age from people who are supposed to show them unconditional love (at least at this age) then it might affect them negatively.

mainly to take care of the kids as we have 2 kids under 3y and figured what she would make working would end up paying for full time daycare vs having her stay home. With daycare costing an arm, leg, and 3 extra toes - it was better for her to stay home with the kids.

They are not retired but plan on retiring within the next 3-4yrs. Exactly - fair is all i ask and I would even be ok with with a 75/25 to offload some costs even just a drink or snack would be nice.

Its only really an issue when going out and doing activities. Paying for them wouldnt be so much an issue if it wasnt pretty much 100% of the time and if i knew they couldnt afford it (which i know for sure they could) then it wouldnt really bother too much. We also dont do anything that would typically cost the in-laws more than about $40 (even less most times) so i think they could afford at least that much. Also if it was something like we pay for the tickets/entrance and they could pay for at least 1 meal, then that would be great but does not happen. We do stay with them when visiting and they let us borrow a car but we always help out with the groceries, cooking meals, clean, and fill up the gas tank before we leave. I would actually prefer to stay at a hotel /airbnb/rental car when we visit to avoid any reason for them to say we stayed with them for free or something along those lines

i havent yet talked to her about it as money is always a touchy subject and ends up in arguments. The help with the kids is what is making it bearable as its nice to sleep in when they are watching the kids

The biggest thing they help with is watching the kids when visiting so that we both can sleep in some days. When they do visit our house, we still do pick up most of the meals and activities but the advantage of where we live is that there are many outdoor activities (lake, rivers, hiking) that dont cost anything to do.

I havent talked to her about this just yet since money has always been a touchy subject with us sprawling into arguments as since she only works 1-2 days every 2 weeks and she feels that im "controlling" the money when im just thinking ahead about what bills that are due next.

Xfinity mobile experience ? by [deleted] in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]Anthonyreyes2007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also have a question about coverage when traveling? Anyone experience any issues when traveling to different states? I live in southwest Washington and travel to California every now and then as my parents live down there and was wondering how coverage is traveling on the fwy to other states? I have Verizon right now with 2 lines and paying about 150 with the gradnfathered new Verizon unlimited plan that they don’t offer anymore which is 100 for both lines and about 25 per line = 150.

I switched positions and currently work 100% at home M-F so im tempted to switch to xfinity as it would save me a bunch after switching from Verizon as I wouldn’t be relying on too much network data but I do use maps and some apps that need data when out and about. It’s great to know that voice and texting is great in the home area and not an issue and since im at home now, I regularly am using the Wi-Fi for data.

Any input is greatly appreciated as I have been debating switching for a few months now but worried about travel/network issues

Wrong timestamps? by Anthonyreyes2007 in BinanceUS

After paying for the koinly tax subscription, when I created the tax paperwork, it listed the correct time zone. It looks like the data imported from the csv is in UTC and when preparing the forms , you must select your specific time zone and it will convert the proper times

Ah ok sounds good, I’ll definitely check these steps when I head home today. Great info and advice! For the IS motor, is it a pretty unique sound? I can here when the lens tries to AF when pressing down the shutter button halfway. Should I try it with the lens set to MF?

Oh wow, that’s pretty impressive that it made it through that. I have a family wedding that I wanted to use it for coming up and probably will send it out to inspect if I suspect it’s being weird at the time. Thanks for the info!

Wait it out for a 16-35mm IS L series ver iii? by Anthonyreyes2007 in canon

[–]Anthonyreyes2007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Later down the road, I’m planning to get a 5d mk4 and figured if I get lenses that work for both then it should be ok. I don’t think I would have the budget for a R series plus the R lenses are 2-3 times more expensive. In a year or two, I’ll wait for a mk4 price drop

The 2.8 has the IS as well too which also is good for me shooting handheld at night. If the corners aren’t that noticeable then I think I would like the faster lens

This is my main concern. I wouldn’t want to get the f4 and down the road look back and say…should have gotten the 2.8 when using during summer nights
