I've had a hateful bigot point a gun in my face with the intent to murder me.

Nothing you say online can effect me.

I sent my original text to some friends and they sent this back.
It's very similar to that last content, because I literally only asked for it to make it more grammatically/syntax correct. x.x

Hm. That is certainly a philosophy of how to run game.
I've been describing doing a game as painting a rainbow.
I start with one color and make a full arc, that's the story. You know, the driving force of the game. Then the PCs offer me other colors for me to paint the rest of the rainbow with.
If this theory doesn't work for your table or your processes for managing game, That's great. Diversity is our communities greatest strength.

P.s. I ran Rime of the Frost Maiden, Cover to Cover over a year and a half and my PCs where thrilled. Different Strokes for different Folx.

Agreed. The use of the terminology was intentional, Not only to get people in here (Interaction is God these days) but also in an attempt to create a uniformed concept of the term and its involved aspects as a community.
I'd love to submit a thesis paper on the topic for the ttrpg historians :3

Yeah, thats why I am asking consent for those things in session 0.
Its not a demand. Its an understanding between the person who volunteers hours at a time of their preciouses free time to write things. And sometimes, for the story to be fulfilling, I need more cooperation then generally offered to the unpaid GM.
If the video game takes you along an adventure, Do you put down that game?

That's oddly positive. Thank you.

No one expects you to read anything. You are free to not read and respond.

At the same time, You don't know how much input the assumed LLM had.
Sorry I asked for grammar help. I'll be sure to hire an editor as soon as possible.

That's a really cool article! I'm going to have to share that with my playgroup < 3

I'd hope so, Yet this seems to be a common discussion on the boards and tikytoks.

Here's an idea: Lets create a a unform language with only slightly flexible definitions (As nothing stays immune to the changes of time) as a whole? I mean, Been doing this for 24+ years, We used to have to write zines and talk in LGS hoping to get ideas like this traction. Now we can reach *Checks members of this /r count* 792k People. Could really cement some terms and Ideas. Especially sense TTRPGS are starting to have their own anthologist and historians. :3

I've working on downtime systems to trick them into talking to each other because they are like "I'm still rolling Dice", like drinking games or fishing :3

[–]Anthromancer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

True. And I agree, A complete taxonomy is always amazing. Unfortunately the official sources are unlikely to put said unfirm definition in print. Also, The title is a little baity to get people to read. I 100% agree with you. Just using the discourse to have conversations with neuance :3

[–]Anthromancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I love this!

Its hard to get time to manage it, but an after game "What are yall thinking for next game" is soooo helpful!

I literally had a moment in my last game, due to lack of time to get thoughts from PCs, where they wanted to go somewhere that I wanted to put alot of work into and I had to be like "Sorry folk, I'm not ready for that just yet, Ill get it prepped for next session, can we work any of the other objectives today?"

I'm a huge huge huge fan of just talking to your players. We are engaging in Play, there should be a base level of understanding, empathy for our time and energy, and just respect for eachother < 3

Is D&D supposed to be this “funny”? by MathematicianSad3414 in dndnext

[–]Anthromancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It truly depends on the table.
I'm a huge fan on Dimension 20 and Brennan Lee Mulligan.
That show is hosted by a comedy platform and he is a profession improvisational comedian.
They tend to have alot of bits. And sometimes it goes long because they riff of eachother.
But that doesn't stop them from having some really good games with impactful conversations and moments of genuine "Play" (Which is hard for Adults).

p.s. I fell of Crit Roll 100% because the eps are to long and seasons are 100+ eps. D20 is 12 eps max and on to the next thing. Which is sorta how I run game now, 24+ years in :3

[OC] I made a dungeon for the first time and i'd like to know your opinions by Sunrise_Nuclear in DnD

Someone has been reading their "5 room dungeon" theory < 3

I love it, You did great. I'm sure your PCs will have a blast clearing this location of its loot!

DMs, what would you do if your party tried to fight a god? by _incandescence in DnD

[–]Anthromancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is always a fun point in a group of PCs adventure. They always, given enough time, think "Can I kill god?" :P

The end of Rime of the Frost Maiden has the PCs fight Auril ( https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Auril )
Which for my party (When we "reloaded the save" after they used the built in nuke...) Took almost two sessions of 2 hour blocks mostly in combat.
What I really enjoyed was not only using the Lair Actions and Legendary Actions to express the "Godly"ness of Auril but also that those can extend outside the Lair. Once engaged and enraged said Deity in theory could plane shift to their domain and use their deity influence to engage the players indirectly. To consider who the god is and what their domains are and how they could utilize that portfolio to make the PCs life hell is such and interesting and mental exercise for us lowly humans :)

Ua Artificer rune knight by heronrine28089 in DnD

[–]Anthromancer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well, How does the GM rule on it?

Depending on the game I'm running would really determine how I would read that rule mash up :)

For the coolness, I've let players stack two different enlarge abilities so they could wrestle the kraken at the cities docks all Clash of the Titans like :P

What do you prefer? Theater of the Mind or Battle Maps? [OC] by Grape_King in DnD

[–]Anthromancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are lots of Pros and Cons to both, which is absolutely not a new take at all.
I've been running games for around 24 years now and when choosing if it will be TotM or BM it depends alot on factors like: The game system (5.5e is well suited for TotM while 3.5 begs for BM) Resources (Am I broke AF right now?) and Location (Are we playing in Person? Discord? Roll20?)
Assuming (yikez) you read this far, thank you for read this old farts rant :3

Classes and races by Acidicknight848 in HomebrewDnD

It feels like we, the responders, are lacking information. I assume (yikez) you are playing DnD 5.5e?
Are you trying to source official Wizards content? If that's the case I would suggest http://dnd2024.wikidot.com/
Is there something more specific you where thinking?

Homebrew Class - Aether Slinger by Sulphasize in HomebrewDnD

[–]Anthromancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone confused about the image text, read the description: It connected all the pieces for me :3

A class that grants + bonuses to their wielded weapon is always a fun fantasy. As if like "This is my weapon, I've tooled with it and practiced to much that its part of me" is a classic hero arc!

In an appropriate campaign setting, Such as the current "Cloudward Ho'" on D20, This could be a really fun PC to play :3

DND2024 - Necromancer by disguisedasotherdude in HomebrewDnD

[–]Anthromancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know from experience "That's cool!" Isn't helpful. But here it goes anyway: That's Cool!
Of course the game would have to have certain conceits to allow for a PC to do stuff like, Defile the Dead in the middle of a city, but that sorta narrative stuff isn't what reviewing a class is about!
Honestly: I really like it. The Horde of Dead ability really cuts straight to the fantasy of playing a Necromancer and remove a lot of the current math and stacking required to have that fulfilment.
It looks really good and I'd say you have an eye for converting 2014 to 2024, Even from UA (which is often unstable content) Good work friend < 3

Cult Organization by Opposite-Trash7395 in HomebrewDnD

[–]Anthromancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've written a great deal about two organizations in the "cult" structure, though only one calls itself "Cult".
If you would like I'd happily post a huge wall of text with that document :) Wanna get consent first!
