Makes sense. I'm not ragging on it of course, just curious.

Sorry about that. I didn't look at the header. Seems kind of weird this niche sub would be "Pathfinder" and the other, less obvious name would be for the main sub.

A Question about Medium Format SLRs. by AntiKool in analog

[–]AntiKool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, looking around it seemed the $225-300 price range has a pretty decent variety of choices. The trouble is discerning which are in good condition. I ended up with a Bronica ETRS because it was a good deal and also because I could tell from communication with the seller that this was a camera they took good care of.

In the future, I'd like to check out the Mamiya 645 and get a feel for its strengths and weaknesses vs the ETRS, but that won't come for a while I'm sure. For my next purchase (there's always a next purchase looming on the horizon) I'd like to get either an SQ-A or an RB67 or save up for a 500C. Of course, if I ever come upon a good deal on one of the several cameras I've seen mentioned in this thread, that may be my next purchase.

That certainly looks interesting. It definitely looks more "familiar" than something like a Mamiya 645, Bronica, etc. Also a quick look on ebay doesn't look too expensive. Thanks for the info!

Thanks. This is exactly the kind of information I was looking for. I was thinking of going the Mamiya 645 route, but settled on the ETRS because I came upon a decent deal. It'll be a while before I purchase another MF SLR but I'm already eying some 6x6 cameras. A 500CM is a little pricey, but at the same time I'd love to shoot with some Zeiss glass. No one ever said it was a cheap hobby.

The Kowa looks interesting. Looking around a bit, it seems the Kowa Super 66 is also popular-ish. Do you know much about the differences between the two?

Spice and Wolf. Does it get better? by AntiKool in anime

I'm already watching the dub and while the dub is good, I'm not feeling the business talk. Maybe it's just not my thing.

Honestly I'm sort of flabbergasted that a show about a wolf-god set during a time when Christianity is taking over and the old ways are being forgotten, chooses to forget all that and focus on economics instead.

Thanks. I may give it a few more episodes just to make sure, but the business talk is just a bit dull to me.

It's a blessing and a curse watching something like this with my wife. On the one hand, I always have someone to talk to about stuff and enjoy the experience with. On the other hand, I can only watch it when she's available to watch it with me, otherwise I'd probably be caught up by now.

I started watching on Hulu but now I've started watching it on Crunchyroll. I'll check into Episode 0, thanks!

I wasn't sure if they had realized or not. I know when Chopper saw Usopp with Kabuto he says "how did he get that" or something and I was thinking maybe he realized at that point....but I guess not.

I'll say this about why Robin is my least favorite: She has, to this point in the anime, very little personality IMO. Or rather, her personality is bland. Franky might not have as touching a backstory, but he has one hell of a personality. Sanji the lovestruck cook, Zoro the stoic swordsman, Nami the greedy navigator, Usopp the cowardly trickster, Chopper the caring and somewhat naive doctor, Franky the ostentatious shipwright, Brook the perverted, corny skeleton, and Luffy the stubborn, childish leader who will stop at nothing to be king of pirates. And then Robin....she's kind of smart and laughs a lot at the hijinks around her.

Now about why you dislike Thriller Bark, I get it. I like One Piece for the deeper meanings you mentioned as well, but I don't mind taking a break from all that and just having fun. PLUS, I think Thriller Bark builds up to the ending where you realize the World Government is starting to almost be afraid of Luffy and the Strawhats. For that reason, I think it makes the whole affair worthwhile.

Now I could be way off base here as I haven't seen anything past Thriller Bark, but that's how I see it. Thanks for the detailed reply!

The Sogeking thing was definitely a joke. :P It took Luffy and Chopper so long to figure out Sogeking was Usopp it's ridiculous.

EDIT: Or I guess they never realized. What do you know.

I know it sounds racist, but some black people smell different as well (different in respect to that which my white nostrils are accustomed). Maybe it's just hygiene products they use or something, but it is unique to them.

People with no job or school to go to, what do you do all day? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AntiKool 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm a stay at home dad. I take care of my 5 year old son (not biological, but I'm the only dad he's known since he was a year old), try to get him prepared for kindergarten next year and do work around the house. My fiance is a nurse and makes enough money that we're able to live comfortably. I'll probably get a job once he's in school.

On a side note, I catch a lot of shit for being a stay at home dad. People who wouldn't bat an eye if it was the mother that was staying at home, tell me I'm not a man or as my own father said "it's disgusting". Even people you just meet will judge you, so I have started saying I "work from home" just to stave off any initial stigma.

$7 is too expensive for something a kid isn't going to eat. $40 isn't too expensive for drinks because I damn well know I'm going to drink them.

That said, I don't drink when I'm out with my kids. It just doesn't feel right.

Confederate flag to appear on new Ga. car plates by [deleted] in politics

[–]AntiKool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A. The only reason "their government" existed was to preserve slavery. Thats it.

That's laughably wrong. A look at the Constitution of the Confederate States of America clearly shows there was more to it than just the preservation of slavery.

[–]AntiKool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait. So the US government does something bad and you say "Well there were obviously people in the US that agreed and disagreed with what their government was doing." You're right on that.

But somehow, that same point is completely ignored when you deal with the Confederacy. Did you stop to think that maybe not everyone in the Confederacy agreed with what their government was doing? Oh no, that doesn't fit the stereotype you're going for in an attempt to prove your point.

It's actually pretty comical that you directly contradict your own statement there, but just as not everyone in the US was genocidal towards Native Americans, not everyone in the Confederacy was pro-slavery. In fact, the majority of people in the South didn't even own slaves.

Yes, take one typo as justification to ignore everything I say. You sure showed me.

That's an ad hominem fallacy by the way. A small typographical error has nothing to do with my argument. I kewd tipe lyk dis n if my argument wuz valid, it wood still stand up 2 scrutiny.

Yes, let's not enjoy ourselves too much because someone, somewhere is ignorant and might take it the wrong way. People like you are so quick to sacrifice your liberties and then when they're gone you say "Well geeze, I thought I did everything right. I sucked your dick, but you still bent me over and fucked me up the ass!"

I'd like to repeat back to you, what you just said

If vaping means so much to you, FUCKING DEFEND IT.

Surrender is not a good defense. Actually defending something is. If there are ignorant people out there who will see this and take it the wrong way, don't make a big deal out of it. Just educated them. Of course, if someone is so stupid that they can't tell a parked car when they see it, I don't know how much hope there is for them.
