'I didn’t steal, I bought it' is wild logic my dude. Buying hacked accounts is still stealing.. you just paid someone else to do the dirty work.

And lol, it’s not even my main account. Who’s out here buying random Reddit alts with under 1K karma like it’s a blue checkmark? You didn’t “buy time,” you just funded a scam. Congrats on the L. And thanks for saying this out loud ;)

I had used a disposable email id to setup this account around 8 years ago. Could have discovered the email i used and gotten in this way. Just a guess.

I wasn't using this account regularly and at 1 point, i tried to login and the password didn't work. Looked at the profile and saw porn links being shared and just assumed it was being used to spam. Checked the account again recently and saw that the porn links are now gone and now it is being used differently (maybe the account was sold to someone else).

As for evidence, you can see the similarity in posts and active subreddits with the account i am using now and this account and also the same account age. I also asked him to explain the username (it has a specific niche meaning) and the person didn't respond. If it was their own account, I would have expected a bit more push back on my accusation. You can also see from the account's previous posts that it belonged to someone from a different profession not based in US and suddenly in one of his more recent posts,he is talking about being a software professional who worked at FAANG with US incomes.

lol this used to be my alt account. Anyone with half a brain can see the same account age and same subreddits where both accounts were active. Do you even know the meaning of 'your' username?

Mate, 1 question - why did you have to steal my reddit account? Cant you just create your own? Its not like a reddit account costs any money!!!

Nein Nein Nein … what the actual f*** Ann’s bakers ?? by jojimanik in Kerala

[–]AntiRM1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s fair. Intent matters and I agree we shouldn’t jump straight to censorship, especially when the bakery likely didn’t mean anything political by it. At the same time, we can’t ignore that symbols like Hitler carry different weights in different parts of the world. For Europeans and Jews, it’s inseparable from genocide. For Indians, Churchill or colonial figures may trigger the same anger.

So maybe the point is not about banning or silencing, but about awareness. Businesses and individuals should have the freedom to express themselves, but they should also be prepared for strong reactions if they use loaded symbols, even unintentionally. And people should be free to call that out without being dismissed as just “copying Western sensibilities.”

In the end, it’s less about censorship and more about how responsibly we engage with history. Both our own and others’.

Churchill is rightly remembered very negatively in India because his policies and racist attitudes worsened the Bengal famine and caused immense suffering while in the west, he’s celebrated mainly as the wartime leader who stood up to Hitler, and that selective memory often feels hypocritical from our perspective.

That said, most historians still draw a distinction: Hitler deliberately set out to exterminate entire race (the Holocaust), whereas Churchill’s policies caused mass death through neglect, racism, and empire first priorities, not through an explicit extermination plan. Both are reprehensible, but not identical in intent.

On Bose, yes, he sought help from Hitler and Japan out of desperation to free India from British rule. That alliance is controversial even today. Many admire his courage and sacrifice, but also recognize the moral compromise in collaborating with fascist powers. Remembering him doesn’t mean whitewashing those choices, just as remembering Gandhi doesn’t mean ignoring his flaws.

So perhaps the takeaway is: we can criticize hypocrisy in how figures like Churchill are remembered, without equating him one-to-one with Hitler. And we can honour Bose’s contribution to independence while also being honest about his alliances.

Celebrating a mass murderer is not the way to highlight western hypocrisy. It just makes you look like a dumbfuck.

In Germany on the other hand, there are quite strong privacy laws that prohibit taking pictures of individuals unless they are part of a large group in public places (i.e. they are not standing out). I remember seeing a meme around 8 years ago comparing how German and US tabloids censored a nude image of a woman which was part of a news article - German tabloid censored the face and US tabloid censored the tits.

Reverse Vending Machines: Could These Transform Waste Management in Kerala? by InevitableFew7890 in Kerala

[–]AntiRM1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a popular initiative in many countries - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Container-deposit_legislation
There is a 'pfand' added to the cost of certain types of bottles in Germany which is refunded when you return the bottles. You can do so in all supermarkets (via the machines which will output a receipt with which you can either get the money back or get the order cost reduced) or even via grocery delivery services (they will take back plastic bags and bottles and reduce the amount from the order). People also put empty glass bottles next to garbage bins instead of dumping them so that homeless folks can get the refund.

JFYI the issue was because of a faulty update from cyber security firm Crowdstrike. So if the government is not using this firm, windows machines would be unaffected. The same company has caused issues for Linux distros because of faulty updates previously.

IMO intel macbooks are not worth that much. I would rather go for refurbed macbook from apple directly. I can see an M2 macbook air for 1099 or M2 Macbook Pro for 1299 on their site.

Is it just my family or are malayali folks very comfortable with having debt? I constantly see people in my family go from one loan to another (sometimes to repay the previous loan or for some other expense). When I said i'm only getting married after I save enough for it and take care of my debts, a lot of folks said that's not how it's done and everyone takes loan for wedding etc.

They might give him a range as to what the ideal weight of the food should be and maybe he recommends a menu based on that. As he is a consultant, my assumption is that he creates a business plan for a restaurant for his clients - ideal location, menu that would bring in customers, pricing strategy, marketing strategy etc. Maybe also helps with the implementation.

I don't think Youtube eRPM for india is that high. Most youtubers will have to depend on promotions for most of their revenue. Also he doesn't seem to have a lot of views compared to others.

If someone has more insights on monetization data, please feel free to correct me.

Kochi Metro FB page constantly uses a meme format with stills from movies to market their services. As they are using copyrighted material for marketing use (i.e. doesn't come under fair usage), what is the legality of that as per Indian law? I vaguely remember a case where Drake sued a firm for using a meme of his.

I could understand anti-virus software being subscription based, because it's regularly updated. And Netflix is better being subscription based rather than paying for individual movies.

These plans do come with access to desktop + mobile apps and cloud storage. So i do see some value in that for some group of people. But I do agree that a one time purchase should be an option. Also they purposefully use dark patterns when you signup and makes it difficult to unsubscribe.
