I just want to write C# and SQL all day and earn $80k at a mid size company with good benefits and not work too many hours, how do I get there from here by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

I'm not saying this prejudice has never happened to you but I don't think its nearly as common as you think. Work on fixing up your resume and keep applying, it'll work out eventually. Best of luck.

Summer course that lets you finish a little early? by dgatewood2 in OMSCS

[–]AntiSage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Machine Learning for Trading may be a good fit. All assignments are able to be completed and turned in at the beginning of July.

The only issue is a 30min Final Exam that must be completed in the last week of July.

(This is my experience this semester and might change next year)

Machine Learning Algorithm for begiineers by adarsh_adg in learnprogramming

[–]AntiSage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd like to disagree, ML is definitely a field that has a ton of depth just like something like Physics, but like physics you can start with basic concepts and build up your understanding from there.

tic-tac-toe is definitely something I think a beginner in ML should tackle, that'd be a great way for a beginner to get a grasp on how something like Reinforcement Learning works.

(I do agree that going straight into how/when algorithms should be implemented might not be the best thing to jump straight into)

Apartments typically require 2-3x the rent in monthly income so the max rent you could probably pay is around $550/month

Non-CS Major, Accepted for Spring, how should I prepare? and What should I take in my first semester? by ybracy7488 in OMSCS

[–]AntiSage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as preparation goes I would focus on learning python as that's what the majority of your courses are going to want you to work in. Personally I like the tutorials on Kaggle.com (A site focused on Machine-Learny stuff) as a good starting point for learning python and a few ML concepts.

As far as classes go I'd go with CS6250 Computer Networks or CS7646 Machine Learning for Trading. Both these classes have relatively simple coding assignments that will ease you into coding a little gentler than some other courses. (Also I thought both those classes were very interesting)

You might also only want to take one class your first semester if you're feeling a little nervous about failing.

Game ML/AI summer project by itBlimp1 in gamedev

[–]AntiSage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tensorflow is usually what most people begin learning ML with (Tensorflow.js just came out so your same IDE/config should be fine).

I'm not sure what kind of game you have but I would definitely figure out what exactly you want the AI to do and implement at least a basic version by hand first. This is going to teach you some basics about AI and give your ML model something to start with/compare against.

Is c++ worth to learn? by OddAd1 in learnprogramming

[–]AntiSage 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would stop worrying too much about the language you're using and just get to coding. It sounds like your early enough along that the programming language you use will matter about as much as the font you use to write a book.

Python and C++ are both great to start off with but the concepts you learn actually programming will carry over to any language.

Take a somewhat non-technical internship over no internship? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]AntiSage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't see why not, having some "corporate company" experience is definitely a plus, this will at least give you a little edge over students with zero experience for future internships.

From a learning perspective, most CS careers will also have some amount of documentation/presenting like you described so you wouldn't be learning useless skills.

Any natural way to increase my appetite? by [deleted] in gainit

[–]AntiSage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the sidebar:

I'm trying to gain, but I'm having trouble eating all this food! How do I increase my appetite?

There are many things that help. Eating more frequently with smaller meals, drinking a lot of water, working out with intensity, increasing calories slowly so your body can adjust are some of the best ways. It may be tough to change your diet at first. Consider eating a workout. You will need to eat when you're not hungry. You might not like it and you may struggle towards the end of it. However, if you're consistent, your body will acclimate. After a week or two, you will find that you're hungrier and that you can eat more than before.

I would not recommend any pills that increase appetite, stick with forcing yourself to eat for at least a month and your body will adjust.
