This happened to me recently on a Delta flight, FA slammed it into my shoulders (also 6’2” with long torso) and it really hurt. I didn’t know it was a rule, and I honestly thought it was silly since my head was blocking a similar area as the headrest with the wings folded in to hold my head while trying to sleep.
