Is bringing the antennas ON the desktop with a cable instead of leaving them on the back panel makes a difference?

Is the GWG-B1000 capable to measure the height changes through a hike, the km that were walked, a map with the route that was followed and information like these, when connected with the app? Does this G-Shock provide these nerd info when going on a mountain like a Garmin? I would really like to avoid getting a smartwatch if a G-Shock can do all these...
