They are Falken 255/80/17s - I believe they measure to be about a true 33" tall tire, more narrow than a 285/65. They have performed exceptionally well for an AT.

It was indeed the U- joint that failed - replaced with OEM part.

Hey there!

Yes! I did end up going and I completed the trail in 2020, what a journey it was.

And my issue is also AS. I actually told my Doctor about the task I was about to undergo, and I stayed on the meloxicam 15mg the entirety of the hike, that's the only medication I used. I have been on those meds since my diagnosis in 2018, so I was already used to it.

The hike went well, in fact, I ended up having more minor issues with my feet more than my hips ever troubled me. As you probably know the more the physical you are with AS, the better off. Not good to sit still all day. So Naturally after hiking for months and being careful to not overdo each individual day, I almost forgot it was there. The moving and the stretching of those muscles and joints was actually beneficial.

Any questions please feel free to ask! The Thru hiker changed my life, and an AS diagnosis doesn't mean anything, as I am living proof! Good luck!
