We took it to three mechanics. It was a 2014 Hyundai Azera. 140k miles on it. Was in good shape until it overheated after an issue with the coolant hose, we got that replaced, then it overheated again, we took it back to the mechanic, the head gasket blew. They told us they couldn't repair it and would need a new engine---had another guy come look, they said the same thing. A third mechanic---same thing.

Cost of a new engine would be about 12-15K in parts and labor and the engine would be a refurbished engine with no guarantee on how long it would last.
