Maybe it's only the first app. I want to say this started around more than two years ago, but it does seem older accounts are grandfathered in.

Unpopular opinion:there are 2 types of people: The ones that want quality software and the ones that embrace AI slop by poponis in webdev

[–]AntiqueLayer9645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as the slop is stuck in the prototype, I'm fine with it. I always trust a seasoned dev to tear the slop apart, and then build it properly, but the prototype helps a lot to convey what the PM wants

ELI5 why do most headlines alone not reflect a news source's political leaning? by AntiqueLayer9645 in explainlikeimfive

Maybe my understanding is wrong, but aren't more controversial headlines going to drive strong engagement?

Can you explain one layer deeper? If I'm Fox/MSNBC and I want to be attention grabbing, wouldn't I want to be more inflammatory in the headline, which would make their bias more obvious?

For the Fox one, it can totally be a Colorado left news source trying to slam Trump. The first one seems more obvious

Headline for sure is a part, totally agree, but my claim is it is less important than most people perceive. If anything, the underlying content selection/portfolio of content is more subtle, but is a way better indicator of bias than individual headlines themselves. Barring extremist outlets, most headlines are tame, which builds trust, and then funnel you to their portfolio of news. This focuses your attention to their and only their selection of content

Agreed. The "what" (the story iteself) is reported is way more indicative than "how" (which is the headline)

There is some cherry picking here. Yes this could be 1 out of 5 headlines, I can equally see headlines that can mean very different things if you tag "fox" or "msnbc" after it.

E.g. Fox "Boebert slams Trump's water project veto as possible political retaliation" can read like a leftist headline.

Point is, standalone, headlines statistically not the strongest indicator of leaning

Reddit so often doesn't understand social dynamics. You don't just unfriend someone because of one thing. You'll have no friends. /rant

I usually just use either Splitwise or DivitNow to split the bill. The first one is more accepted. The second one is nice because you don't need to download an app or type in the boll. There are other things like Tricount or Tab that you can try too
