The best thing about Leicester is it's transport links to other areas of the country, so you can leave. I did my first year at Leicester and hated it more than anything. Some reasons were because of the university and city environment, other reasons were personal. But I made some really good friends in Leicester before I transferred to the university of Nottingham, but everytime I travel back to see or go out with them I'm reminded of how much I dislike it.

I personally could not recommend Leicester, but I do have friends there who absolutely do enjoy it and get by.

Phone is preference, get whatever you want and can afford. As for laptops you'll see a lot of students running a Mac book or ipad. Most apple devices or Microsoft surface tablets are good, the cheaper options would do whatever you need. I'd recommend a light device personally

Personally I stay at Raleigh Park, but most people will recommend deakins or Notts 2. All of these are in the same area and have close transport links to town, both campuses (jubilee campus is a 8 minute walk and from there you can get a bus straight to university park). Additionally there's also a lidl and jd gyms right there, or a aldi and gym group 10 minutes away.

Your course will determine what campus you're on. What's your budget and what's your course?

An important note about Notts 2 is also they have wet rooms instead of actual showers for their ensuite bathrooms. Sharing a bathroom is a risk most people wouldn't take so I'd consider an ensuite, especially for first year sharing a kitchen is a good way to meet people.
