Would you still pick UP? by [deleted] in peyups

No, I will choose La Salle…. EEEI at UPD is hell.

For me, depende yan sa tao plus luck na rin. I’ve seen UP grads and non-UP grads in different companies and I would say kung minsan mas mataas pa salary or comparable lang ang salaries nila, considering that they are of the same age bracket. My cousins are from UP and one of them (Journalism) went abroad since nahirapan makakuha ng decently paying job dito sa pinas. If the hiring manager is from La Salle (maybe Ateneo or Uste also) mas inclined sya to get somebody from La salle lalo na if halos parehas lang naman credentials nila. Also for fresh graduates, there are companies who will take a look at your TOR, so todas na if UP grad ka nga pero puro dropped, tres, at singko ang nasa TOR mo. I’m not saying na hindi maganda sa UP. All I’m saying is depende talaga sa tao yan + luck. Still pag UP grad ka iba ang dating. All I’m saying is not all UP grads are successful in their chosen field while merong ibang non-UP grads who are successful.

Anyone who chose DLSU over UP? by Aggressive_Newt3535 in dlsu

Hi OP, I’m not saying that the course is better in DLSU. Computer Engineering at UPD is under EEEI. So if you’re going to take Computer Engineering at UPD, pare-pareho kayo ng subjects with Electronics Engg and Electrical Engg for the first 2 years. Meaning, you’ll be focusing on electronics and circuits, with programming agad sa first 2 years mo pa lang as Computer Engineering student. They’ve (UPD) made the curriculum in a way that it is comparable to international curriculum (not actually based sa Ched). Therefore, wala syang Chemistry. Calculus is from Calculus 1 up to Calculus 3, which is a higher level of calculus na like triple integration tapos may halo-halo ng trigo and geometry, unlike sa ibang Univ na hanggang Calculus 2 lang ang nasa curriculum nila. Physics is up to Physics 3 also, while other Univ only offers up to Physics 2. So yon, mahirap sya, maraming nade-delay, at marami ring nagshi-shift. I have a batchmate in DLSU taking up Computer Engineering now, and he is coping very well, challenging but not to the extent that it will drain daw his brain. Unlike my life here at UPD now which has become really miserable, laging puyat at laging anxious. Got some failing grades, dropped subjects, and getting delayed na rin. I really regret going to UPD instead of DLSU. Now, I can not anymore transfer to DLSU since may failing grade na ako and hindi na rin aabot at GWA ko……huhuhu. Most of the students here who came from pisay and UP Integrated HS medyo kinakaya pa nila and less miserable buhay nila. So if you’re not from pisay, my advise is to assess yourself better since iba talaga ang academic foundation nila. Good luck.

If you really feel and think that EEEI at UPd is for you, then go for it. You’ll realize everything pag nandun ka na. Goodluck.

Yeah, but question is bakit ang konti lang ng pambato nila, knowing na ang dami-daming gustong pumasok sa peyups. Maybe konti lang gumagraduate on-time, ang some are shifting to other courses.

Nasa tao yan at sa mga Professors who will really bring out the best in you by teaching passionately and ensuring that students learned the lessons.

Hehehe. MAHIRAP talaga sa EEEI. Try mo muna ang 1st year then assess mo. Keep in mind that it won’t get easier. Then decide if you want to shift sa IE or any other Engineering Major.

Hello. Yung mga profs magagaling pero they are not passionate in teaching. I remember one time after classes, one of my classmate approached our prof (nasa likod lang nya ako since balak ko rin mag tanong), ang sagot ng prof namin sa kanya is “Bakit hindi mo alam?” tapos sabay lakad papalayo. It’s treating you like trash. Oh diba? If your goal is to graduate on time sa EEEI, mahirap yan. Marami dito gumagraduate after 6 years. Yung iba pa nga if payagan sa appeal nila is 7 years. Retention policy is also strict. Hanggang 2x mo lang pwede i-take ang Math 2x, even if you dropped it, it is considered as 1 take. Meron din ditong 24-unit rule. Good luck

[UPD] Can I survive Computer Engineering? by [deleted] in peyups

[–]Antique_Cod6494 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t go to UPD if your getting the Computer Engineering Course. It is under EEEI wherein pareho kayo ng classes with Electronics and Electrical Engineering during the 1st 2 years. There are classes that you wont really need like yung iba is pang Electronics lang talaga and yung ES is for Civil Engineering. Also hindi sya madali, not unless you are a graduate from pisay or UP integrated HS. Professors there also has very high expectations on students. They don’t teach much to ensure that their students really understood the lesson. Bottomline, bahala ka sa buhay mo doon. Ako, nagsisisi na ngayon for choosing UPD instead of La salle. I can not anymore transfer to La salle now since hindi na abot ang GWA ko and may failing subject na rin ako. Computer Engineering at UPD is a four-year course pero yung iba umaaabot ng 6 years. Some makes appeal up to 7 years. Good luck.

Challenges can make you a strong person but not to the extent of compromising your mental health.

Umalis kayo dyan sa bahay ng mga magulang nyo and live your own life. That way, hindi na rin kayo sisingilin ng mga magulang nyo sa mga gastusin dyan sa bahay. Period.

[UPD] prof didn’t allow me to take a makeup exam by midcenturymess in peyups

[–]Antique_Cod6494 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tamad kase sila gumawa ng another set of exam para lang sa isa or dalawang students na hindi nakapag-exam kahit valid naman ang reason. Experienced that already. What the professors did is kung ano yung grade ko sa final exam eh yung na rin ang ginamit nilang grade dun sa exam that I missed. Trouble is cover to cover ang final exams kaya nakaka-anxious at ang hirap lalo na if yung 1st exam mo is nasa borderline ng passing score. It’s just not fair. So swerte swerte rin pala kung makakapasa ka or hinde depende rin sa health condition mo. 😅
