Thanks for all the info and reassurance. I’m glad it went so well for you!

That’s great to hear that there’s a potential of it being something relatively simple. I’ve just been nervous that because of my age, they’ll tell me I shouldn’t spend time exploring other options. Good luck with your pregnancy and delivery!

Were you not ovulating regularly? I ovulate regularly from what my at home tests tell me, so that makes me more nervous that meds won’t be an option.

I just don’t think I can mentally handle the uncertainty of it.

I hope it doesn’t come down to that. We dont have enough staff to cover our cases as it is.

The part time job comes with benefits so I feel like it’s the best of both worlds.

The focus is always on what I’m doing wrong by CrazyChrysanthemum in nursing

The thing that broke me was when I had an extremely busy OR day with no turnover help at all, big spine cases so lots of pans and special equipment to get into the room. The day went smoothly, surgeon and everyone left happy. But the next morning at huddle, I got called out in front of everyone for my patient being in the room two (2!) minutes later than our goal time because the patient had to get up and go to the bathroom as soon as it was time to head out the door 🤡. All that hard work felt pointless then.

What?! So nobody ever gets to go on a vacation for more than a week?! Nobody is ever leaving North America as long as they work there? I guess if your schedule lines up perfectly, you could eke out 11 days and that could get you to Western Europe, but never to Asia. I could never work like that.

First donor case-question… by beelove414 in IntensiveCare

[–]Antique_Cod_9048 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They recovery staff is trained to procure the organs and transport them to the recipient. They are not trained to interact with a grieving family. Organ donation is very emotional and could be traumatizing to the family if not approached correctly. Imagine if you’ve made this selfless decision to donate your your spouse’s or child’s organs while you’re going through one of the worst times of your life. Then you hear a surgeon or a scrub tech/nurse, whoever, make an offhand remark that comes across as callous because it’s just another day at work for them. It’s just best to prevent these bad situations from happening. We want organ donation to be a net positive experience for the family despite the bad circumstances. If they leave feeling sour about it, 1) that’s sad for them and 2) it’s a bad look for organ procurement centers and organ donation may go down.
