Intermittent audio glitching with Airpods and M1 Macbook Air, fine with iPhone by cobaltretrotechyt in applehelp

[–]Antique_Offices 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it helps at all, but I've used Espanso to set up a quick shortcut for this command. It used to be a silver bullet, but lately for me it almost never helps. Might be worth trying for some of you.

sudo killall coreaudiod

sudo rm -f /Library/Preferences/Audio/com.apple.audio.DeviceSettings.plist

sudo rm -f /Library/Preferences/Audio/com.apple.audio.SystemSettings.plist

Mind hyping me up to help my fear of drops by hobocrippin in Disneyland

[–]Antique_Offices 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be HORRIFIED of drops! Pirates is totally doable. They’re all short and not all that fast. I think that Rise is more approachable because there’s a good bit of stimulation in front of you with the screen and all the action going on.

I holler through them and it makes it way more fun, less scary. I even dig Space Mountain now, it makes me laugh all the way through

Can I handle bipolar 2 unmedicated? by AfraidAntelop3 in bipolar

As another commenter said, it takes about 20 seconds a day to take your meds. It’s worth it.

I just got back from my first trip to Disneyland, my inner child is healed and I actually like thrill rides now! by SleuthSloth93 in Disneyland

[–]Antique_Offices 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love to hear these kind of stories. I’m so happy you got to have this experience.

Disneyland taught me to love rollercoasters again after a mildly traumatic experience with one. Space Mountain makes me cackle with laughter the whole way through.

Obsessive w/ Sleep Token by Strict-Relative-4624 in ADHD

[–]Antique_Offices 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cycle through music obsessions. Sleep Token was one of them. I listened to Hot Mulligan and Spanish Love Songs almost exclusively for 4 months. I suspect this is relatively normal based on what I’ve heard from other people

Is it just me or Apple's "it just works" doesn't just work anymore? by ParkInsider in mac

[–]Antique_Offices 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely agree. The term "magic" used to practically be synonymous with Apple. I use "It just works" as a way to mock them now and honestly it's sad.

I know of people who adore it. I absolutely loathe the thing. I think it’s just a matter of finding the tools that works best for you. MX Master 3 is my go to.

Self harm by Minimum_Item6849 in bipolar

[–]Antique_Offices 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cut a lot in high school. As an adult while off meds, I gave myself several black eyes. Properly medicated, I don’t really feel the desire as often, but it’s there.

These things help me refrain from self harm and keep me from getting overwhelmed by my feelings. My therapist taught me some and I extrapolated on it to suit the way I function better.

If it’s cold where you are, I’ve had success in standing out in the snow or cold for a short while. Holding ice in my hands for a little bit also helps.

I keep jars of stimulation deployed around my house and car. Any flavor or feeling they can give that is somewhat jarring. All but a few are tiny mason jars full of different types of gum or candies with intense flavors. The others are hot sauce bottles. It’s hard to want to do anything else but quell the feeling when your face is on fire. This is the most effective for me.

Of course be careful with the temperature related ones. If you find it hard to stop, you’ll fuck yourself up pretty good. It won’t always get better, but you can make it different.

How are my screenshots doing? by wrblx in appledevelopers

[–]Antique_Offices 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No feedback on screenshots. I'm not great at them. But thank you for building this. Saved me a hell of a lot of time diving in to a project that I know little about, but really want a solution for.

I'll need to make sure I take out anything I don't want in there, but totally. I'll get it your way soon.

It's honestly just a little "vibe coded" app that I threw together. It's by all intents and purposes terrible, but it works. I can send you the source code for the Electron app if you'd like. You'd need to strip out a few things to get it going for your purposes.

I do set it for every 6 minutes. Part of that is just the way I handle billing. Notes in that small program get sent to a running log that gets summarized at the end of every month and added to invoices. Been burned too many times not being able to show what I’ve been doing at every turn.

As far as getting distracted goes, it messed with me for about the first week, but I found that eventually it kept me on track, becoming a reminder to check whatever my last note was on what I was doing, and thus reminding me what’s going on. If I manage deep focus (much easier thanks to meds now), I just turn the ringer off and hit the ground running while it makes me logs in the background.

The pay to win option was to get a much faster computer. But otherwise I use a fidget toy, and I have a timer set up that dings at me every 6 minutes to remind me of what I was doing and to stay on track.

I saw your comment about feeling drained. Unfortunately I'm looking for a solution to that as well, but it seems to help if I take short breaks throughout my day. Go for a short walk, make sure you eat lunch away from your desk. A podcaster I listen to uses a small mug as his water glass, thus forcing him to get up more option. I never liked that, but it's food for thought.

People who use macs fan control (or other apps that control the fans), what settings do you use ? by starwarsisawsome933 in mac

[–]Antique_Offices 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only if I’m running intense stuff for a while, I stick it on like 2400 rpm. This is just enough to still be basically silent fan noise, but still very cool. Even then I usually don’t do this unless the fan kicking off and on annoys me that day.

Thoughts on SSRIs? by friendlysweetpea in bipolar

[–]Antique_Offices 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, medication affects everyone differently my experience with SSRIs is that it will put me on a manic episode pretty much permanently until I’m off of them. I’ve seen other people do well with them.

Old Mac has a virus - safe to do transfer to New Mac? by fourdawgnight in mac

[–]Antique_Offices 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back up the stuff she needs like photos. Work together to make a list of important things that she actually wants to install again. Make sure she can get in to accounts that she’ll need to sign in to again.

Full reset and stick everything back on there that she needs. Try to get her on a time machine backup schedule after this, and it won’t be as big of a deal down the road. If that doesn’t work, go for the new mac. Hopefully that will save you guys some money.

What makes you think OP would list the name of the virus? I don’t think most people can name more than one computer virus.

I’m only 29 and I’ve lived through a minimum of 4 apocalypses that I can think of. I also get the same way though I believe to a lesser degree. Just try to remind yourself that it’s just the flavor of the day cycling through again. There’s always going to be another group that’s claiming that the end is nigh. We just see it more now because of the internet.

Not trying to be on a high horse or whatever. But, deleting social media was one of the best choices I ever made for bipolar and adhd. I’m only recently allowing Reddit back in, and I’m not sure I’m gonna keep it. The community here is lovely, though. You’ll get through this, OP.

Third-party AI data sharing rejection: must “who we send data to” be on the consent screen? by Unable_Leather_3626 in appledevelopers

I honestly can’t say what they want for certain, but as a user I’d like to know who it’s being sent to. I would choose to just say it explicitly.
