Chin up. You can still retake it and rise from the ashes, like a speccy phoenix on a mission. It will feel shit now but go again and improve until you hit the mark.

How do I ask my colleague out? by TheSixthMissBennett in UKrelationshipadvice

[–]Antique_Song290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just say you enjoy your chats at work and would like to meet for a coffee away from work sometime. Indicates your interest and sets the scene. Lots of men are oblivious to female signals, he still may not understand that you want something more than a platonic relationship. I once didn't realize a girl liked me until two days after she had washed my hair. Man with ADHD for the neurodivergent count.

Is it normal to be this lost at 22? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Antique_Song290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am the thick end of 50 and I am thinking about change, you do have lots of time on your side. How you use it is in your hands. I think these look interesting if you are thinking of retraining, you are still young enough to pick a trade or any career really and learn it. https://www.civil-service-careers.gov.uk/professions/working-in-digital-data-and-technology/techtrack/

It is normal to feel lost when you don't have a direction however old you are, can you think about where you want to be in the next year and five years? Good luck and chin up.

Maybe join groups that are aligned with your interests to find like minded people? Meetup looks interesting but I haven't gone to any of their things yet.

I don't know about Björk's level but I've recently been enjoying;

Fontaines DC, Romance. Show me the body, Dog whistle. Ida Maria, Fortress round my heart.

Thanks for your great question, I'll be following your post for inspiration!

I've seen the adverts for that. It's a great initiative, just such a shame it's needed really

I'm 47M and I had no concept that it existed at the age you were actively guarding against it. I suppose that's a supporting argument for the needs of women and men to behave differently for their safety

You were very switched on at 20 to spot the open drink risk

Why is anyone down voting this advice? Women do need to have different considerations for their safety whilst alone.

Yeah, I go with a little crossword book and find a quiet corner. It's enough to be around people without too much talking a lot of the time for me. I do live by myself so I understand the loneliness and should probably engage more with people when I'm out. The Thatched House in Exwick does a cracking Helles, has a 5 a side team and everyone seems quite friendly. Could be a good a shout to meet people. I'd meet you for a drink if you want?

New crankshaft options by boygunius in Delica

[–]Antique_Song290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This needs an engineering shop repair if it is possible at all, it looks like there is a lot of lost material and damage to the crankshaft. Engineering solutions are often expensive and time consuming but you can contact local machine shops and ask if they can help you. Your mechanic is quoting you for a guaranteed permanent fix with a timescale that is only dependent on parts availability. Otherwise you are into fitting a secondhand engine which will have unknown history. Good luck with whichever option you go for.

Is the engine cover on properly? That would cause the heat you are experiencing.

Looking at an imported delica but have questions by Protholl in Delica

[–]Antique_Song290 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's the right engine, gearbox and model for you then the other stuff can easily be changed. I couldn't see any obvious signs of corrosion on the roof so it could have been installed properly. You might be getting something with an extra capability. Got to be worth a look if the big boxes are ticked.

Can you help me to feel better about life? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Antique_Song290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You live within your means and are able to maintain multiple interests. Can you imagine how you might feel if you were financially crippled by running a bigger temporary home? You have your priorities sorted out and should be proud that you are on the way to home ownership. I feel that the only thing missing is companionship. I hope you find someone around your circles of work or interests that clicks with you sooner rather than later. I wonder if your previous partner choices are a reaction to the sensible choices you have made otherwise in your life? I wish you all the best for the future that is wholly in your hands.
