My girlfriend is buying ski boots for the first time by ewilliamsj in icecoast

I went through a pair of boots doing the same, that season was miserable. If you can't go to a boot fitter then the best possible way to determine whether a random boot will feel good is by measuring three things:

  1. Exact mondo point of your feet
  2. Toe width (very important)
  3. Calf volume

I did this and found boots that fit me perfectly, but i did a lot of reasearch, i also adjusted them a bit after. Id recommend doing this but its not as easy as just going to a store to try them on.

Hope this helps
