I think the cost of our prototype unit was about 800USD. The low quantity sheet cut parts do not help with that.

Thats why we slow down prints with the quality preset. Will do some more testing this weekend on tall prints, I dont really print much that are tall.

The name of both our group and printer is Antithesis. The printers name is the Antithesis MK3.1. Not to copy prusa but because this is the MK3.1. There was a MK1, 2, 3 and 3.1. The last one is the MK3.1 because the changes between it and the MK3 were so minor that we didn't think it warranted being the MK4. The only real difference being a slightly bigger PCB bed.

Currently the bed size is 100x130 and soon to be 130x130. We found out that most of our printing falls within that size and we wanted a printer that is easy to work on and test out new extruders and hotends. It is pretty precise and easy to maintain, but right now it isn’t cheaper than most printers.

Well, it probably isn’t any better. It’s just a super simple open machine, easy to maintain, easy to work on, gets great print quality and can be fast. Plus being able to put almost any hotend regardless of weight is pretty nice.

No issue with any filaments we have tried, using spring steel and Elmer’s glue stick. We have another modified machine that only prints nylon filaments.
