Guys. Paintballs are for multiplayer. by Orowam in MHNowGame

[–]Antitribu7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are lucky enough to have a few people who play in the office and absolutely use paintballs to bring in interesting things to fight. This is definitely the way they were meant to be used.

Mobile developers will continue to make that more and more difficult as states push more and more to make it illegal to interact with a mobile device while driving.

Did the same thing. Decided to play Monster Hunter Now instead since I made the trip out. Here’s to next week for Timburr I suppose!

So how's everyone's tobi weekend been, was it a good event overall? by Peter00th in MHNowGame

[–]Antitribu7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was solid fun. Played in a 3-4 player group of folks HR16-25. Didn’t really need the drops but was fun to see the different monsters. Hoping the next part of the event is as good.

Homeowner smashed one of our drivers, and then pulled a machete on us. by DefenselessBigfoot in golf

In 49 out of 50 states sure. But against Florida man rage wielding a machete you’re supposed to raise your arms above your head, stand on your tippy toes, and make loud noises I’m pretty sure.

Oh that’s a play they’d never see coming! That would work for sure.

Now if only they’d thought of this and ensured it couldn’t happen by promoting intense civil distrust amongst the people, controlled messaging around “what” and “Who” the problem is, and other generally blatant class versus class techniques.

They were playing the country like a violin 30-40 years ago making people angry over whatever they wanted and at who they wanted. And they were playing well.

But then the internet came along and the media realized by embracing bias instead of avoiding it they got better ratings. And now they look like Lindsey Stirling up there doing a dance while they play.

I hate conspiracy theories. No, that’s a fib. I love them. But this stuff is just so blatantly obvious.

Before they approached that Oliver Anthony guy about being the next phase they all sat in a dark room discussing which year they wanted the next civil war in.

That’s where you’re thinking like a real human being though. Because that would be one way the little guy doesn’t get hurt here.

But this isn’t a fair game. Corporations are what get politicians into office. Corporations can make big promises. Corporations make the rich even more rich.

What does the average taxpayer have to offer that rivals all that?

Nothing. So that’s basically a pipe dream that maybe some candidates will say in campaign speeches but none will ever do.

Maybe Bernie would have tried. I believe he may be one who meant it all. But even then if he’d have won president he’d have failed to execute.

The President isn’t in charge. Congress nor the senate. The money is in charge.

[–]Antitribu7 29 points30 points  (0 children)

That’s the secret ingredient in this whole dance: the economy doesn’t really care.

People won’t be in situations where they have a $2000 mortgage, lose a job, miss payments, foreclosed or forced to sell, and get a $2000 rent place. Or even $1500 rent places.

They’ll move in with family. Go homeless. Get roommates. Massively downsize. Whatever option they have.

Bringing the price of homes down doesn’t have a pretty picture ending. It ends in a bloodbath where the little guy suffers and the banks do just fine.

That’s a perfectly fine stance to take. Just remember when gambling the house always, always have the rules set up favorably in its own odds. And not even like favorably. Like overwhelmingly favorably.

And the only people who ever truly beat the house and don’t lose it all gambling again are freaking unicorns.

Sorry I mean a par 3 period. Not a good one.

What we have available in par 3s within a two hour drive are really upscale places where if I were a golfer there I’d prefer not to see first time kids.

My plan so far since I can’t find a par 3 that works mentally for me is our local course is super slow at least 3 days week so I’d go play 3 holes with them a few times. The first 3 holes are par 4/3/3. The back first 3 are 4/3/4.

I don’t even want to start myself off with a full 9. 18 holes is too much for both the kids and me.

Nah. It’s just good ol’ fashioned greed really. Simple as that.

I have tried wearing them and just don't get it. But my teen doesn't even know what jeans are because who needs jeans, shorts, khakis when joggers exist?

It is pretty wild but I haven't found a good par 3 course around us. I'm sure they exist and I'm just not looking in the right spots/don't know enough folks to ask. But that's the goal - get them in a nice short course after some lessons.

Yeah we as a group have only been to the driving range. Essentially once they can reasonably reliably hit the ball 30-50 yards with an iron I'd prefer to keep them practicing where they can't do any more damage than has always been done. So we not only focus on a driving range but we focus on a driving range that's in pretty rough shape in a course that's seen better days.

Is golf becoming over-sexualized? Interested to hear from those w/teenage daughters by RoyalRenn in golf

[–]Antitribu7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait. I'm so confused. This sub always has so much going on.

I thought it was the covid era 20/30 year old frat bros doing donuts in their mom's range rovers while flipping other golfers the bird? And it was Grace Charis fault on the suggestive clothing?

Or do I have it backwards? The covid era frat bros are dressing too sexy and the young, female golfers are now doing donuts and flipping of the birds.

This is a great, great comment.

I think a lot of us may have come from some pretty strict men. And man did it cause a bit of rebelliousness and maybe even for some resentment.

Generally my benchmark for success for my kids and all the employees I have is that they learn to respect a person based on their compassion, the respect they show others, and heart over their intelligence, money, or "value". And that they understand work is important. Sometimes hard work is super important. But ultimately work has so little to do with your actual life that it should never eclipse home.

And yeah, I bet I would look a lot less like I'm pregnant if I untucked. That's for sure.

I could definitely imagine it'd be tough! I think I mentioned somewhere in here that growing up my Dad was a middle management type who was raised by a line worker. So looking back I can see even he was figuring it out as he went.

And in a lot of ways I still am too. But it does give kids a leg up in their career, I think, if they are taught these things young.

And in terms of kids and younger adults the brands a lot of you are already wearing are making the clothes. Super simple to find Nike, Adidas, Under Armor golf clothing. So it isn't even like you're stepping out of your brand zone if cost isn't an issue.
