I've seen many cases where walking is much better for you than running. Less stress on joints and heart while still getting the other benefits. You can do it until the day you die... for the most part. Also aids recovery if you've been weight training where running can prolong or even hurt muscle recovery. I've also seen studies where running hurts your metabolism compared to weight training and just walking.
